Auto regenerative health FPS's are hardcore now? Don't make me laugh. I come from a generation of gamers that actually beat Ghouls and Ghosts, your definition of hardcore is ridiculous.

Halo and MW are casual ("mainstream") titles. Sure, they're not for younger age groups (under 12), but don't start declaring your untouchable sphere of awesomeness isn't fractured by the mainstreaming of game entertainment in general.

I have no idea what you're babbling about.

Games like Halo and CoD are considered core by the industry. Your rant isn't gonna change that.

There is a difference between core and hardcore.

The industry considers anything that sells well as "core".  So, Just Dance is core to the industry.  Halo and CoD are core, but they are not hardcore.

Hmmm... no.

I understand what you're saying though. Just a different context.

Just stick to "third parties/ hardcore games don't sell on Wii". It works surprisingly well for developers, analists and game journalists alike.

Above: still the best game of the year.

^^^^ but why??? what is the common denominator, is it that the majority of Wii owners dont care about thsoe type of games or is it possible that multiplat owners, which there are alot this gen, rather just buy a game on anything but Wii. It wasnt always like this, there was a time when multiplats on Wii would sell as much as the PS3 version. outside of the E rated fare those days are gone. I dont wanna believe that that much people jumped ship to the PS3 or 360

The main reason: The multiplayer. It adds a ton of replay value to the game, and fits better in Wii's "social gaming" persona. Red Steel 2 I felt was more similar to Mad World than Red Steel 1, in that it was far too niche, stylized, and limited its value from the lack of multiplayer and its very short single player.

The other reason is Red Steel 1 had the luxury of releasing during the hype of the Wii's launch. Launch games generally have inflated numbers from non-launch games.

@conegamer companies do that all the time. Why not throw BloodStone in their that came out the same day as GE. YOu cant take two different games and try to add it as one sale that is ridiculous. YOur assuming that everyone who bought GE would have bought BO and vice versa. There is no way you can know that. Maybe some people bought both?? Maybe some bought neither. I bought both, and I would have still gotten COD if there was no GE and vice versa. YOu have to take the highest selling one and go from their. Right now i believe its COD4 for Wii at 1mil which is weak in comparison to the HDs, but HD gamers love to shoot things

Difference is that Blood Stone isn't an FPS in the same way as Goldeneye...

That's why I subtracted 500k off for those, like me, who bought both. I'm also curious to see how long this FPS craze lasts for, and if it dies next gen...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

@metallicube  that makes alot of sense but come on, Wii is not my primary gaming console but i dont know anyone that is willing to play a crappy game just cause it has multiplayer, I see how it is important however. Maybe im too old, but i believe that a game should be able to stand on its single player alone. i dont care how much people i can play a game with, if the single player turns me off i wont be trying the multi. If I have a dodo pizza its still going to taste like crap no matter how many slices I share. Im probably in the minority with this though

@conegamer who knows. I like FPSs as much as the next guy, but it is getting ridiculous. its always been like that in every gen, you have your 1 or 2 genres that dominate and thats mostly what you see on shelves. in the 8-16 bit it was platformers. Mario 64 came out and everyone tried to emulate that. FF7 brought RPGs worldwide and you couldnt walk into a store without seeing some new RPG for PS1, im still playing RPGs from that era

Bolded X1,000,000,086

If a game has poor single player, then the multiplayer is inherently poor!

I also agree with your next bit, gamers tastes change over time, now it's time to move on. FPS' have had their moment, and are we seeing a return of the platformer/RPG?

What happened? The Wii audience doesn't care.

Its the same console where CoD Black Ops is struggling to pass a million.

Activision shot themselves in the foot by releasing goldeneye in the same month.

There should be a weekly 'why did this fail on wii' thread.
