The trolls are completely destroying the reasonable posters ever since the site's inception, despite the site's standing within the industry. I think this happened because this is a website that reports sales numbers, and whenever the numbers are not in a person's favor, their fanboy instincts kick in. The trolls have already marked the points of interest for each of the three companies.

I predict that the reasonable posters will eventually be driven out completely, and this website's forums will be a complete trollfest. The strong momentum of the trolling will continue well into 2011 and shoot back up during the holidays, and this is all happening despite a rather weak Asian following. Europeans and Americans are all loving this so much. I think the reason for all this happening is that the trends seemed to be set in stone a couple of years back, whereas the current number of surprises and changes within the market have surfaced the worst out of the fanboys.

Anyway, to all the people who said "X fans are the worst", "mods are biased", "this console sucks and copies the others", "OVERTRACKEDZZZ", "UNDERTRACKEDZZ", "Overstuffing teh channelz", "Motion controls is a fad", "PS3 got no gamez", "Wii is nothing but teh shovelwarez", "Kinect iz no different than the Eyetoy", bla bla bla bla bla bla...

Take a good look at yourselves.

Awesome, awesome post. Definitely sums up all my current feelings for this site nowadays.

What happened VGC? You used to be a place where constructive conversations and debates were possible. Were fans from each respective console, all of them, or none, could actually live together, except for the odd member here and there (who could forget Crazzyman, Gebx and some select others). 

Nowadays, it doesn't take much for a thread to go up in flames or invaded by spammers that just want to disrupt them. Reasonable and level-headed posters get instantly flamed and tagged as fanboy just because they posted a thread that instead of giving a bazillion praise to X, Y or Z console, it only gave a million.

This recent trend of calling on the bias of mods just because they actually do their job on members that have been deserving bans for years is also a pretty degrading one. It's like every console camp is becoming their own particular war niche, were every buddy would take a bullet for the next one and dig up the most absurd lies just to discredit everyone who isn't affiliated with them.

To sum it up: VGC, you're a tiny step away from becoming the likes of N4G.

I do not know about that. N4G is super messed up. Vgchartz still is a way more mature community, and I cannot see it going the route of N4G anytime soon (which is about as low as you can go). I do have to praise them for being the fastest to post news though.

I personally am more annoyed by the vgchartz style of trolls. The "you console xyz owners said this and now you say that, you are hypocrits" threads are more of an eyesore to me than the regular "lol, console xyz sucks" threads.

While I agree that it has gotten bad lately, I think it's cyclical.  It's always bad around the game changers (coming here to VGChartz last year at PS3 Slim/Price Drop was pretty bad for a 360 fan...); and Kinect/GT5 making a little splash is the current fire starter.

I definitely second your opinion that this site is better without that garbage, but ride it out, and things will turn back to normal.  Unless shipment numbers/NPD are vastly different from Chartz numbers that is...that will extend the troll topics to be sure.
