Forums - Gaming Discussion - So I finally finished Final Fantasy XIII...and I didn't really like it

*Minor spoilers*

Yeh to be honest I might rank it as one of the worst Final Fantasy games I've ever played...

At first the game was fine, ok a little linear there usually like this then it just kept going and going, no cities really ruined it as well.

I hate to say it but the game being so linear was really the biggest issue (this is not what someone expects from a next gen Final Fantasy game), it was such a relief to get to Gran Pulse but it was so short. Next thing I know I'm off Gran Pulse and back into cocoon. I really didn't give a damn about any of the main characters (been a while since I was ever attached to a main character in a game), the final boss was fairly easy, usually it's over an hour of epicness and transformation but I beat the boss my first try in less then a half hour.

I hated the weapon upgrade system, but the leveling up wasn't to bad, kind of easy to get EX points though. And money was probably the most useless thing in the game...I don't think I bought a single thing the whole game and I only had like 30,000 bucks?? all the items/weapons/accessories I needed I already had from treasures.

Cut scenes were boring, same as the ending.

I really hope Versus can redeem the Final Fantasy franchise for me, please be good!!!

Welcome to the club bro.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I feel the same way. I was like wtf! So, I'm never getting caught up in hype anymore.

I'm sure Versus will heal that pain. I hope.

i haven't finished the game yet, because of this, its one FF game that i actually don't want to keep playing =[ (ignore my sig and avatar)

to me the worst thing was the character i don't mind the linearity since FFX was linear as well, but the characters are so uninteresting and the storyline is very uninteresting as well, to me Front Mission Evolved had better storyline and characters which is ironic since Square (or Eidos) wanted to leave the RPG elements of it and focus on action.

People say the game is linear like it's a bad thing. It really isn't.

Btw, FFX was just as linear.

I'm not hyped for it, I'm just waiting for it since I first heard of it.

FFX was linear but you were allowed to break off the path whenever you wanted (Blitz Ball, Spherebreak, theatre, temple trials ...towns!! [ towns ALWAYS= unscripted exploration, i.e you were free to do what you wanted until you were back on the path.])

Can I ask why you find the characters uninteresting? I was refreshed by the different kinds of characters the game had with opposing personalities clashing, the headstrong woman with the whiny boy, the chirpy but mysterious girl with the concerned father, when they split up it felt like they had their own importance in the storyline and it was very interesting to see how they developed together as characters.  Don't see how they are any less interesting than cast's from the previous games.

spherebreak was in FFX-2 not X

this isn't really on topic and I'm not really arguing about XIII anymore :P.
