Yes, I said it, Eminem's Recovery Album, Marshall Mathers LP, Slim Shady LP, The Eminem Show, and The Curtain Call are the best albums of this decade!

Eminem sold more Albums in the 21st century than any other artist. He reaches out and relates with a lot of people. The lyrics in his songs are far more advanced than anything ever seen before (My opinion).

Take a look at Recovery album...His 'Rap' Songs take qualities from all different genres to please everybody. He is a musical genious. He is the only artist to have over 6 albums sell over 700k first week (I read that somewhere).

let's use this thread as a thank you for all of his amazing music.

These are some of his amazing songs...enjoy!

Your argument is invalid.

Huh??? You tried to invalidate him with Metallica? What's wrong with you?????

As for Eminem... yes... I'm inclined to agree... the only rapper I can listen to.

Yeah, they've only sold like 100 million records. And I didn't want to exclude my fav band.

And how exactly are The Beatles the "artist of the 21st century" when they haven't made music since the 20th century? o.O

Because they're stuff is outselling white trash from Detroit.

I'm black. ...... I'm black. I don't rap and I don't play basketball. I swim and play water polo.

F that. You're not black. If black people were good at swimming they'd escaped decades ago.

Ah wow I don't post on this site much anymore after the redesign which I find terrible but this is a topic I am very interested in.

I am a major Eminem fan. I listen to his stuff from before he was signed up until the songs he released a couple weeks ago. The thing about Eminem is that is goes through stages, styles and moods and he really covers a lot. When he was real young he rapped about being poor, daily hustle, being unsigned. Then he went into Slim Shady mode and rapped about not giving a fuck, kim, rebel, etc. After that he started doing the more emotional songs that pull you in and hit you at heart. Drug problems, serial killer, and everything in between.

It has nothing to do with being the best, it has everything to do with being the greatest. What defines that is having the complete package. The struggle, controversey, talent, sales, relevancy, dedication and legacy. Eminem really is the only rap artist that fulfills that right now. You can list all the underground artists you want. You can talk about better lyracist or whatever but none of them have the complete package that Em does, that is what makes him special.

"Em is nasty man, I tell people to this day...if Em was black...he’d be the next Muhammad Ali.” -  Rakim

“Air Jordan. Tiger Woods. You know how a person is made for something? Eminem is made for hip-hop. The best rapper is a white man.”- 50 cent

"Toronto I want you to make some motherfucking noise for the Greatest of all time,Eminem"- Drake

"Nobody's gonna be bigger than Eminem"- Kanye West

"Eminem is the Greatest ever"- Akon

“Technically,Eminem is the most skilled rapper I’ve ever heard”  - DJ Khalil

"From the start, I’ve always admired Eminem’s thinking. That’s the reason I wanted to appear on the Grammys with him when I was asked. Eminem has the balls to say what he feels and to make offensive things funny. That’s very necessary today in America, with people being muzzled and irony becoming a lost art. Artists like Eminem who use their free speech to get a point across are vitally important. There just aren’t many people in the world with balls that big and talent that awesome." - Elton John

"You notice out of everyone I’ve ever talked about I NEVER fucked with Em’ and I NEVER will. When he’s pissed off, he ain’t gonna punch you in the mouth and he probably can’t beat you up, but he’s gonna fuck you up. You don’t fuck with that crazy white boy." - The Game

"I started off thinking Eminem was a flash in the pan, a kind of hip-hop Hanson brother. How wrong I was. Recovery is sometimes funny, sometimes terrible, always painfully honest. The matching of Eminem and Rihanna on “Love the Way You Lie” is pure genius. “Not Afraid” is pretty great too."  - Stephen King

"You know the world is messed up when the tallest man in the NBA is chinese, the best golfer is black, and the best rapper is white." - Chris Rock

Then why bother even coming into the thread? I understand opposing Eminem as the artist of the century, I'm not a big fan of him either. But at least put artists who are still associated with their brilliance in this generation. That's like me coming into this thread and saying Beethoven was the artist of the century.

He is. And come on. I can't resist that sweet, sweet trolling.

Eh,  I don't like his music.

and commands the respect of the old school artists (like Bowie, Deborah Harry from Blondie, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, etc...) that Eminem does not. .

Bwah? That whole bit about a collaboration was false. Had he commented on her otherwise? Seems a bit suspect to me, to be honest.

Its always funny/cool/impressive when someone who is in the minority (of a certain activity) is the best at it.

What I mean by that is rap is dominated by black people but a white guy is arguably the best.

Other examples:

- Not really true currently but for a while the best NBA players were Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki, both white. Now James, Durant and Bryant are the best though. Also it can be noted that Nash is Canadian so the best NBA player was from a country with like 3 players.

- In NHL (basically all white) for a couple years Jarome Iginla (half black I think) was the best player, and a bit further back Grant Fuhr was one of the best goalies.

- Justin Morneau is one of the best MLB players and he's one of the very few Canadians. Mostly Americans in the MLB.

- One of the best guitarists ever (Hendrix) was black, while most classic rock bands are white.

You just forgot Golf and F1, the first for very long time had Tiger Woods as the BESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST in a white sport... the second were the first black champion in F1...

And never forget Boxing, there were a time when just white fought, and after the black were all champions, causing the last white guy to be world champion Rocky Marciano

I don't know much about F1 but yeah definitely golf. Woods was the best in the 2000's but ever since his divorce he's been shit.
