I only played 4 missions so far, and I must say the third one was pretty cool because it was the most "calm" one. With that said, I think there's wayyy too much stuff happening at the same time in this single player campaign. I know COD games are known for being cinematic and stuff, but this one is just too extreme (so far)! First you're having a fight with someone, then there's people everywhere beating people up, then you get out and you're being bombarded by a turret, then helicopters and explosions everywhere, then you get a chain gun and explode everything, and then a motorcycle ride and then you get on a truck and destroy helicopters and more trucks and FINALLY you have to jump on a train! I mean WTF just happened?

You can't really take your breath with this game. And I don't even want to think how some parts are going to be atrociously hard on Veteran difficulty. This is no Modern Warfare 2 that's for sure!

Overall, I'd recommend it if you're in the mood to play CoD games. If not, well go play a few of the old ones to get in the beat because this one starts really really fast!

Veteran mode is really easy just like in Modern Warfare 2.

Completed the game twice. Regular and Veteran and the Veteran difficulty only took me 1 and a half hour longer than the Regular playthrough.

OT: really great singleplayer mode. Probably the second best behind CoD4, but unfortunately it's still pretty short.

My times: 4:40 on Regular and 6:15 on Veteran.

So for me probably 10hrs plus. I dunno why I am so bad at them. I use to be great at the more stealth type ones like Goldeneye and I loved the first Medal of Honor which was less stealth than Goldeneye but if you did it right there was alot.

I bought it this evening already wont get to play it till later tonight though. Does it keep track of head shots, Hits/miss, etc? I always like trying to outdo myself.

Is it me or was Black Ops really gory? like ridiclous gory....

How did you complete is that quickly, I was at least 6 hours on hardened

im having problems with this game's story mode, the ai is just retarded.. one of my comrades will be right next to the enemy and they dont even attempt to shoot each other, except the enemy just focuses on killin me!!...... thats the only problem i can say that the single player has (so far)

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Single player in Black Ops is horrible.  It's simply one long micromanaged scripted event.  Goldeneye's single player is so much more enjoyable.

The single player campaign in Black Ops is as good as stroking your penis with the sharp side of a knife..

I have to agree that atleast so far GoldenEye is much better on level design. My only complaint at the moment with Black Ops is how many scenes its has. Thankfully they are skippable for the most part. I also am not sure about the helpers and having my hand held through it with a guy having FOLLOW above his head lol. I am enjoying it though, but yea GoldenEye is the better of the two.

Well was it your first playthrough ?

Veteran was obviously my second, so I skipped the loading scenes and already knew what to do. There were also hardly any parts that were really difficult. One in Vorkuta I think (before you get the mini gun) and one very short part at the end of the rooftop level (which I found incredibly bad designed on Veteran. Only talking about this last scene with the pistol, but also the whole level was probably the hardest. Took me an hour alone to finish it.) but nothing else AFAIR.

@d21lewis  it has local co-op, im like the OP I like my single player campaign, this crap about multi this gen has pissed me off. A game should stand on its single player ALONE. MW2 had the worst, non-sensical campaign ive played of not only FPSs but video games in general

Yeah it's a LOT better than MW2 as it's more focused on the main story and the main protaganist, which is better by a long way!

And I agree with what you say about single player, this whole shift to multiplayer focus in some games is not good when they neglect the campaign. But I can assure you, Treyarch have not neglected the campaign, it's superb!
