Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should Konami be worried?

Castlevania sales arent impressive. It bombed. I think that Konami should have released this game as timed exclusive to PS3 or X360..... No doubt we would see decent sales of at least one version.

Am now thinking if same thing could happen to Metal Gear Solid: Rising?

It probably will, I don't think many people want to play a crappy clone of ninja gaiden where you play as raiden

Time for hype

It's too bad too, because from the 2 chapters that I have played, it is a damn good game.

Also I doubt rising will bomb because it still has the Metal Gear name in it. Though honestly I'm not that interested in it because I haven't seen much gameplay footage and I hope it plays more to the traditional MGS gameplay and not some hack and slash game.

It hasn't done that bad imo. With a decent launch in Japan it should find it's way to 1.2m worldwide ) when all is said and done, which is round about where most games in the genre end up outside of DMC and God of War. Unless Konami were expecting the game to randomly sell as much as DMC despite being a new series (Not new IP) I'd imagine it's just about in line with expectation.

Depends on if the holidays help sell a decent amount of copies, it's tracking quite behind Bayonetta but should show stronger legs with holiday sales.

MGS Rising should do better then MGS4 too, what with the PS3 userbase having grown, the 360 side of things to draw from and MGS4's performance to draw from anyway.

If anything is a cause for Konami's concern it should be how far behind PES has fallen from FIFA now - PES2011 already had it's priced slashed in the UK just a week after launch and FIFA continues to take more and more of the market. While I'm sure Konami are still making a pretty penny from these low-cost yearly releases, it's nothing like it was in the PS2 days when FIFA was 'second' football game.

Castlevania sales are always less than Metal Gear sales on consoles.

I think console Castlevania game that was hit from sales standpoint was probably Super Castlevania IV. Well...maybe Bloodines on Genesis since it was the time the series hit a Sega Console.

Think positive! within 2 weeks it outsold Castlevania Judgement! Think positive!

I seriously doubt MGS Rising on PS3 will outsell MGS4. In fact probably PS3, X360 and PC version combined won't outsell MGS4's 5 Mil.

Rising is not God of war,Zelda or like Darksiders which was already released this year which is copy of Gow/Zelda etc, so ofc it would bomb.

I think it has some legs after people have time.

I'm huge castlevania fan tho.

Take my love, take my land..

should have them as PS3 exclusives, because the fan base for those games are on the PS3(because of MGS4) and if it was an exclusives the PS fan boys would go and get it to because they like showing off they have an game Nintendo, pc or xbox360 doesn't.

Ps3 exclusive = higher sales

Muliplat = failure

makes no sense but so dont the ps3 fanboys

it could work the other way as well but since there were alot of MGS4 fans who bought MGS4 they have an user base there.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
