Hard to say. My prediction is either 4th place or last. I think it'll do about 9-10 million. So enough to be a success and easily make a profit but not epic sales like GT3

 Look at it this way, now GT5 has less time before a PS4 is released. I'm thinking 8-9 million tops. This game is coming upon the last remaining time of the consoles' lifetimes and in the age of shooters. In either case, there's as much proof as this game having legs as there is of the contrary. 

A PS4 release is at the very least, 2 years away. Also, "the age of shooters" is irrelevant, because if it weren't, previous PlayStation franchises with iterations this gen would have been heavily affected. Well, God of War & Metal Gear Solid had no problems, I doubt Sony's biggest franchise will have problems. It will do between 10 & 11 million, but not outsell GT3.

This is my prediction also.  Around 11 million.

 

I see this is being underestimated by the same few that happened with many other PS3 games.  We saw how that turned out from before.  A glorified Demo sold 5 million - I think GT5 will be able to do more.

Indeed. Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBIGPlanet, God of War III, HEAVY RAIN are all major candidates of this. Look at what's happened

Uncharted 2 is already ahead of Drake's Fortune.

LBP will clear 4 mill when some said it be lucky to see 1.5mill.

God of War III will be the best selling in the series.

MGS4 will likely catch MGS1 & MGS2 (both did about 5.58mill on PS1/PS2 respectively).

HEAVY RAIN is looking for 2 mill at this point when just about everybody (except moi ) doubted it would clear 500,000 (which it ironically cleared in it's first week to market).

Some people haven't learned their lessons yet.

Good shit son! All this evidence proves a smaller userbase =/= lower sales! Here's a couple more I noticed

FIFA 11 will likely become the best selling FIFA game ever (based on FIFA 10 sales being 3.55m) beating FIFA 06 on the PS2 (3.93m)

Resident Evil 5 will soon pass Resident Evil 3 in sales and become the 3rd best selling RE game ever

Killzone 2 has outsold Killzone in America (there is no numbers for Killzone in EMEAA)

I believe it will get to over 9 million, and above 10 mill eventually.

Of course they will bundle GT5, there have already been bundles announced. I doubt they'll bundle it like they did with GT3 though.

Well as someone who is right into sim racers and has been prowling the forums i am sensing big things from GT5, and i don't think i am alone.  I have noticed some BIG advertisement ramping up on GTPlanet.net from the likes of Ferrari, Bmw and Porsche to name just a few.

 

Also, the price of the top steering wheels (G27 & Fanatec) has been rapidly climbing and they are becoming harder to even get in some locations.

 

I think these are all signs of something big, and i'm pretty sure the industry knows that.

 

I expect GT5 to clear GT4, and perhaps even challenge GT3.

@zlejedi In regards to Sony bungling GT5 as much as possible, some people think the biggest most awesome GT bungle happened with the last delay  and no they won't Bundle it when it goes Greatest hits as Greatest Hits means they have sold enough in a certain time frame to satisfy Sony's Greatest hits criteria and in most cases  sales are stalling so they use Greatest hits to get another boost at a lesser price point made up for  by extra sales volume so it doesn't make sense to bundle  a GH game has people want something relatively new  in there bundles,

Prince of Persia and Tom Clancy's franchises also sold better on PS2.

Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk's franchises sold better on PS2.

Star Wars games sold better on PS2.

WWE games sold better on PS2.

And... another huge racing game's franchise in the name of Need for Speed also sold way better on PS2.

And keep in mind that a lot of PS2 games aren't very weel tracked here.

In the end I think GT5 won't top 7-8 million LTD.

p.s. GoW III didnt outsold GoW II yet, it is currently at 3.03M, while GoW II is at 3.45M and GoW is at 3.74M. But I agree it will outsell it eventually. :)

Look at the games darth chose to use there. If you notice, they're all exclusive or timed exclusive (In GTA's case). darth just should have worded what he said differently.

But yeah anyway I just wanna pick on something there you said.

FIFA 10 is the best selling FIFA game so far. But if you want to go by single platforms then FIFA 10 on the PS3 alone is only 400k behind FIFA 06. FIFA 11 now is looking to far surpass FIFA 10 though so... Watch this spot! FIFA 11 is already 700k ahead after just 2 weeks on sale
