Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Gamasutra: Nintendo iz doomed again, all hail our new lord Apple

Because the 3DS cames too late......

With its announcements this week, Nintendo has given Apple a chance to get even more entrenched in the gaming world – and the early pricing on the 3DS suggests the iPhone and iPod Touch could have plenty of time to expand that footprint.

Let’s get a few things out of the way, first. The Japanese price tag of 25,000 yen doesn’t carry a lot of weight in the U.S. or Europe.

While there was a lot of Sturm und Drang about that price meaning the 3DS will be a $300 handheld system when it hits our shores, analysts don’t expect the company to carry that price tag to other territories when the system launches in March. $250 is the current odds on favorite.

I just spit imaginary milk at my monitor.

Apple can suck my dick.

I'd like to be cleverer than that, but I really do loathe them.

Anyway, Apple and smartphones are a real threat to Nintendo's handhelds, but not Sony's.

That's because Sony is not a company that depends on fleeting things like profits or market share. They are simply the official leaders of the industry, and the next generation of handhelds begins when they say so.

I LOVE ICELAND!

It's telling that a site that's supposed to be more sophisticated industry-insider-y is perhaps the furthest off the mark from reality.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I like turtles.

GRAB HIM!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I just imagined spitting milk at my screen.

But I didn't actually do the physical action pretending that milk was really coming out, and then getting my laptop covered in spit.

yeahh, ummm. Not anymore. Back in the day when Gamasutra was a developer oriented site that was very true. There was a lot of reasonable thought on many topics. I don't know when it happened, but there was a flood of fanboys who moved in. Gamasutra while still maintaining it's developer heritage also now has far to much crap going on. They aren't as prestigious any more than say Kotaku. All that they have is their rep and the small area still dedicated to developers. Past that's it's well word, dull and typical gaming site.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
