Kinect will be more successful than most ppl's predictions imo.
We have to wait and see.
Don't forget Move will be released 2 months earlier than Kinect :)

Well Kinect is a lot more advertised right now bigger user base in US, that's expected. Kinect should outsell Move in the US and Kinect was on Jimmy Fallon last night
I know of a few people who preordered Kinect on Amazon in the event it comes out at under $99.
Some might drop it if it is over $99, but they all want it if it comes in at that price.
It is like saving your spot inline for free (I even did this and do not have a 360 yet)

Hardly a revolution, remember the eyetoy? (or Playstation Eye - for PS3) this does the same job. The only thing that's different is that Kinect creates a character based on your movements whereas the eyetoy just showed an image of you.
It does have depth perception - which might be nice but i can't see the games that it's used for being any more serious than Wii games. If you're a driving game fan you're always going to prefer a steering wheel and pedals in front of you than pretending they're there. If you're an FPS fan you're going to want something to aim with rather than just pointing your finger at the screen.
Metallicube said: Kinect will sell better than Move, even if Move has the better games (which looks to be the case). The reason is because the Move lacks the "new" factor that the Wii has, and because of that, it will not sell much beyond Sony's core fanbase. Why would new users, particularly the more casual audience, pick up a $300 PS3 and another $100 for Move when they can get a Wii that's ready to go with 2 games for half the price? |
Why would new owners spend $300 on a 360 and $150 for Kinect (and no games bundled with Kinect btw) when they can do they can get a Wii that's ready to go with 2 games for even less than half the price? And even worse, the main Kinect games are Kinect Sports, Dance Central, Ubisoft Fitness, and Kinectimals. Those 3 are just clones of some of the highest selling Wii games, and Kinectimals is already out. It's called EyePet.
I'm sure they'll bundle it, but as it stands, there's going to be a $299 new 360, and Kinect is at $150 even according to Microsoft. PS3/Move bundle at least comes with a game. So, you can't make it seem like it's silly for new owners to get Move, because at this stage in the game, it's even SILLIER for them to get Kinect by your logic
Also, Move doesn't have the "new" factor that the Wii has, so it won't sell outside it's core audience? Hello! The core audience has called Wii gimmicky and "the games are for kids" since launch. Why would the core audience buy the same thing just cause it's on the PS3? Wii Sports is for kids, but Sports Champions is for the hardcore? Come on now, I know PS fans aren't the favorites on forums, but THAT much hypocrisy just doesn't exist
what happened to ze lead?
Will the PS3 be the first and most successful multi-million selling piracy & hack-free console of all time?
binary solo said: The Navigation Controller is the highest pre-ordered Move item? What are those poor saps who by the Nav, but not the rest of Move gonna do once their Nav arrives? |
The Navigation is only sold seperately, but move is available by itself or with the sports game. So its most likely some people are buying the bundle and the nav, while others are just buying the move and the nav.

I would guess if there was a shortage of Move vs Kinect at launch it would be Kinect. When has there ever been a shortage of a controller? PS EYE is already out. I can't see any need to preorder a controller.
So if I was going to buy Kinect and/or Move at launch, I would preorder Kinect but not Move.
As others have stated, don't put too much faith in the pre-orders of Amazon. Not only does it fluctuate grreatly, but I'm sure retail chains (Wal-mart/Target) represent a much higher amount of sales than sites like Amazon, Gamestop and Ebay. Besides, at this moment in time, Kinect is only at #27. We really have to wait till the ad campaigns come to judge anything. I expect pre-orders/sales to definitely rise when Sony starts the Coke advertising.
