Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Zelda was pushed back to refine visual style, says Shigeru Miyamoto!

I don't really know how I can prove it, but I've played:

Zelda, Link, Link to the past, briefly 4 swords, spirit tracks (abandoned for boredom), Ocarina, MAjoras mask, Wind waker (1st half of game because my ex-friend stole my gamecube for coke-money), part of twilight princess.

You're confusing a growing distaste with the series for stagnation. It's not the same thing. It's fine to not like the games, and to dislike them more over time. It's not fine to come up with an objectively wrong reason for it without the frame of proper context, or to attribute the same (lack of) reasoning to other people.

Go to your room.

I find it hard to believe some people thought they would just elaborate on the TP style, its kinda obvious we were gonna get a new style.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I understand your points but I must also say that nobody really talks about wipeout. Zelda is topical, that's why I talk about it. It's always on people's lips. Wipeout isn't.And besides, I still play the games. I've played all the newest ones, and I'll probably play this one. How am I immature?

You're a more convincing writer and more knowledgeable on the subject, so I'm not going to bother arguing my feeling with the little idiosyncrasies that seperate the game. I'm just one person who thinks the games aren't what they could be.

I also hate the mentality that you have where you basically write "You are wrong for this reason, this reason, and this reason,......idiot"

No one is calling you an idiot, but the fact is the thread was originally about the visual style and the refining is what's taking so long and it has somehow lead into you going on about how every 3D zelda seems to be OoT all over again (which was for the most part just LttP if you want to get this whole formula debate going) more or less I was asking why do you care and why bring it up in this thread, how about bringing it up in your Sorcery >>> Zelda thread?

Honestly though people like Khuutra asked you of your opinion and what was wrong/similar and all you do is post pictures... but you could post pictures of a lot of games that look similar but play completely different with a different story, etc.

More or less it's like, why discuss a game you're obviously not willing to go into detail about why you believe what you believe rather take issue with anyone that asks you to elaborate on specific reasons why and try to play the victim card... when the original topic wasn't even discussing the formula or how it's gotten stale.

you're right. I was off-topic, responding to a post that started with a picture of miyamoto saying oot and mm were stale and nintendo fans can't make up their minds over which games they like.

I guess your problem is that you can't figure out when someone's responding to the op and when they're responding to a post. I understand it's hard. But keep an eye out for little quote windows in their post, and read the context of them to get an idea what's going on. That's how i do it.

Your second problem is that you can't mind your own business. I was talking to khuutra. We get each other. we have a lot of similar tastes, and can debate without insulting each other. I find khuutra to be very intelligent, and sometimes, a bit intimidating, especially when he asks for specific reasons for which I haven't thought extensively about. I didn't want to go into detail because he would thrash me with his experience. He's a huge zelda fan.

EDIT: Except khuutras mature enough to make a point without..

The art need polishing. I like the new style. Something like pastels or I don't know what I would call it. ALso let's be honest It's a Nintendo Zelda game. They can delay these games like Blizzard delays their games. It will be delayed until it's done.

I'm looking forward to playing it. This is the game I think most gamers wanted back for TP in regards to control style. Though I guess it was easy to overlook that TP was a NGC game.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

For what it's worth, prof, I'm more curious than anything, and I think if we nail down what's causing your series fatigue then ... I don't know, but something good should come out of that knowledge.

It may be as simple as the idea that you don't need to keep buying the games.

You don't like adventures of link? What?

I'd rather use pictures:

vs

This was a pass or fail kinda thing, and you did not pass

Eh lol hahaha you know that was so stupid of you to do sorry but that is the truth lol

If you use pics it is obvious that no one will be able to tell how the game-play is different than the other… WOW

OoT and MM are very different in game-play both of them use time travel but in a different way. The later lets you play three days only in which you have to go back in time to change things you can do the days after.

WW used the sea and TP did not have time travel so it makes it different than the other games before it. sure they all use the same fighting and dongeon system with improvements here and there.

What kind of change do people want? A Zelda racer, golf, soccer? It is an adventure game and if you do not like it then by something ells that is why we humans have the ability to chose lol.

You don’t like you don’t buy that is how easy it is so live with it.

For me I have a problem with how low polly things seem to be in SS but they said they are going to fix things so I am happy and even if it does not look as good as I hoped for I am more interested in the way it plays as I have always loved Zelda since OoT

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

i know :P

Ya know, I hate to bring it there, but maybe it's the story, or lack thereof. Playing spirit tracks, felt disconnected. Let's go to the next dungeon! Let's open up a new land! It just felt like a bunch of puzzles with some story loosely trying to get me to do them. The virtue of simply getting and solving new puzzles just isn't enough to get me to continue. They feel, if I'm narrowing it down correctly, "too open"... i think that's it.

Although the stories for those games are pretty good, so I'm not entirely sure what about the story would possibly be wrong.

@Slimbeast

I think khuutra's the biggest Zelda fan on this site.

Not even close. Rubang and Helios are a lot bigger than I am, just for starters.

Then there's me who plays Zelda for 1500 hours.

If the game is finished in its majority, they should've given us a good old fashioned dramatic trailer.  I can't wait for one of those to come out.
