Charles King/DCI shares his opinion on Aaron Greenburg's recent tweet about Halo 3 outselling Sony franchises.

"I will be honest and say that it is a pretty impressive feat for a game to outsell 8 other popular titles like that. However, I don’t understand the first part of his tweet “Just in from research team (NPD)”.

Why was the “Microsoft Xbox 360 Stupid and Irrelevant Statistics Department” researching this anyway? Well what the MX360SAISD conveniently left out of their research is that Sony has one of the best selling franchises of all time."

Gran Turismo 1-3 sold more than the whole Halo series COMBINED….wow

Gran trusimo has sold over 55 million copies, while Halosold around 27 million. The Halo franchise only has half the total sales of the Gran Turismo series. Gran Turismo 3 is also one of the best selling games of all time with 14.89 million sold. When it comes to the new additions to both franchises I’m sure GT5 and Halo: Reach will sell like hot cakes. Reach sales will not matter in the overall scheme of things because do you honestly believe GT 5 will be a flop in the sales department? Keep in mind that Gran Turismo is a racing game, and it’s very impressive that in a culture of violence and space aliens a racing game still finds a way into the hearts of so many gamers around the world.

The two arguments aren't the same at all. There are more GT games than Halo games. Greenburg is making a statement about one individual game outselling certain entire Sony franchises.

That said, it's incredibly immature for both sides.

If i remember correctly, before ODST released, GT3 and GT4 combined were greater than Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo Wars.

I think... It might have been without Halo Wars.

Anyway, both GT5 and Halo Reach will surpass 10 Million units. So all is good!

WOW Holy shit man...

Seriously who cares? We all know Gran Tursimo is a massive sales beast and sales don't prove the quality of games.

Halo outselling Resistance, Killzone, Uncharted and God of War doesn't mean those games are inferior to Halo or Gran Turismo outselling Halo series doesn't mean Halo is inferior or visa versa.
