Forums - Sony Discussion - is the ps3 getting the respect it deserves?

I think that over the last year and a half the PlayStation 3 has really started to get a ton of respect.

It's affordable for one thing, which has enticed over 12 million new PS3 units to be sold since September 2009.

Which such a massive uptick in sales, many people who are on the fence have gotten one and I think really impressed with what it can do. They show it off to their friends and family. They get excited for it. They go and buy one.

If Sony could fix the suppy problems, the sales for the platform would be much higher than they are, but it's not like a platform being "sold out" causes people to lose interest in that system. It actually raises peoples interest.

Because it's a hot item.

Its still priced way above impulse purchase !

I guess the 300.00 price is really impulsive in our current economy. For all that the ps3 delivers I'd tend to believe that the price shouldnt be an issue.

I understand how you feel, but price really is an issue in our current market. The thing is, its not that bad, because Sony has more room to intice new purchaser by price drop than his competitors. Sony was able to sell a shit load of PS3 at a 600$ price tag, not a small achievement. Most tech or companies would have gone bankrupt. I think theres actually a lot of respect for PS3 and Sony by most person. When you read forum like here, you can easily doubt, but if you ask people on the street what they think, they will usually have Sony and PS3 in high regards. This explain why PS3 see major sell augmentation each price drop. The PS3 at 199$ in 1-2 years (+ raising interest in blu ray and 3D) will sell like hot cake to the average person, will be funny to see.

No...

But neither the Gamecube or Sega Saturn got the respect they deserved...

Very true, I'm still kinda sad that Sega have dropped out of the hardware market.

It has my respect, and that's all I can personally account for :)

There are times when some game reviewers say that A game is a reason to buy a ps3 and then forget that game and say buy PS3 for B game which I dnt understand smtimes as if the PS3 has only one game to buy for. It now has a good library of quality games and people still say there is no game on PS3 as a must have and then BOOM GOW3 , ' a reason to own a ps3'..
I hope you ppl get my point. ppl need to acknowledge the fact that the ps3 is not in 2006 or 2007 now and has equally good if not better games than the competition and ya, Thts respect for me!

sony got what it deserves, can you respect a 8 core console system that doesn't deliver 8 core gaming experience? does the 8 core make the AI of any game the ps3 produces smarter than the ones found on the 360? are ps3 graphics superior beyond belief? uncharted graphic look superior because we could argue that naughty dog focused on detail, any developer i think for either of the systems when motivated enough to act on detail would i think make any game look good, naught dog saying it cant be done on the 360, really? who can believe that when they are first party to sony because its only the most logical thing to claim and sony wouldn't agree if said any different, who can respect a game like gt5 take takes so long to deliver to our footsteps, who can respect playing inferior mulitplat games on the ps3, who can respect a system that cost 600 at lunch, who can respect a system that has the least titles and your asking me is sony getting the respect it deserves? why yes,

I still believe that ps3 is getting it's respect. well a lot more lately..

You have to ask yourself if the 360 added a slot loading blu ray drive, built in wifi, and free online, without raising the price.. what would happen?

If sales = respect (i know thats what the op is suggesting), then the PS3 is getting the respect kicked out of its ass by the 360.

Yes sales are close and PS3 is still winning world wide, but exactly why the 360 is winning week after week in NA (even when supply is not a huge issue for PS3) still remains a huge mystery to me..

It makes me want to slap people, scream, and vomit on my own shoes.
/ end sarcasm. ..?
