Having played both BOTW amd The Witcher 3, I have to say that BOTW is franchise re-defining, while Witcher 3 is one of the defining titles if the current generation.

Both are great in different areas of their design, but I feel The Witcher 3 was more content packed and offered diversity, with every aspect fully fleshed out and intricate. So it left a bigger impact on me than BOtW, overall.

But there are aspects of BOTW’s gameplay that beat those found in The Witcher 3. But taken as a whole, the latter is simply more fully fleshed out and content/feature packed.

So it gets my vote as one of the generation defining titles.

Out of curiousity what would you say are other games that are "generation defining"?

I have played a lot of great games this gen, but other than the Witcher 3 I have not played a game that are truly, how do I say it, let's say exponentially high quality and truly masterful. I have yet to play GoW however and RDR is around the corner.

Horizon was great, but not truly mind boggling amazing. Farcry 4 as well. Bloodborne was amazing too, but TW3 feels like it's just a tier above. Uncharted 4 as well. If it had better pacing maybe it would have reached that level. But I'm curious to hear your thoughts

    Ready to try Nioh?

< BraLoD posted something on bananaking21's wall:

Played a bit of Horizon and I think I'll disable most of the visual stuff on screen (already made it dinamic, but I have test it too littler after that.

There is too much info on screen, I want to explore it by myself, the trail following function I'll still use, but I want to look at a clean screen of that gorgeous world and get to know every corner by myself, like RDR.

Also, I can't wait to be able to tame those horse-like robots, running is not the best way to travel, I need a mount.

i put most of it on Dynamic. but i like the info on screen. at first i thought it was too much, but later on i realized i used them all.

and yeah mounts help, but i like to run around, its super fun.

    on 23 March 2017

I've been enjoying it way more with everything dynamic and the guide bar always off, it made me want to explore way more by myself and pay more attention in the details on the map itself.
About the mounts, I'm rarely using them, mostly because I like to explore slowly so I won't miss much, and they let you way to easy to detect for the other bots, I'll mostly only use them to go back to places I already went to.

The sidequests have been the only week part of the game up until now, just trivial stuff, but I'm still fairly early in the game, and the last sidequest I found I actually liked it.

    on 23 March 2017

the side quests are good, but not great. sometimes the story and dialogue in them feels rushed. but overall they do add more to the game, and most of them are pretty fun.

    on 23 March 2017

The one I liked was about a damaged device in the peak of a ice mountain that tamed the machines near there and a tribe built a camp there with the machines, that was the last one I made, and it's still on the first third of the map, so they might get better later, as this one was already nice.
I'm spending A DAMN LOT of time going everywhere, trying to climb everything, to look at everything, reading everything I find, so I'm going really slow with the progression of the game.
I'm liking the game overall pretty much about the same as I did Red Dead Redemption, somethings better (combat, world, items) something less (overall story and quests, but as I'm still fairly early, it might change, as the lore in Horizon is miles better),
Even so, I'm still not feeling it as a 10/10, as I did for RDR back then, the story really weights on me, but until I beat it I can't know for sure, there was still no major twists were I am, so there is that xD

    on 23 March 2017

to me its a 9.5/10 so far. however as i told you before release, it wont be as refined as it could have been. just some small details that happen sometimes feel cheap. the story is good, but its not the best. but i havent finished it yet either.

yeah that mission is also my favorite side mission too. i still have some more to do though so we will see how it fairs. some side missions are pretty good, some others are ok.

the combat and machines however are the star of the show. its just extremely fun to run into a new type of machine, and go head to head with it. exploring the world due to that is fun. of course there are other reason why exploring is fun, but that alone makes it really awesome.

combat is so fucking satisfying. its just amazing. gameplay is the best i played in an open world game.

    on 23 March 2017

Combat and enemies design are brilliant, if it had a Naughty Dog level of narrative... 15/10 wouldn't be enough xP
I'm really liking it as it is, I think it's also around a 9.5 by now, for me.

Anyway, it's still not better than Nioh, and I dunno if it'll be able to be, honestly, the GOTG shall remains at Nioh's hands.

    on 15 March 2017

Sorry, Disgaea 5 is utterly superior.
I paid on it almost 3x what I would have paid for TW3... completely worth it.

    on 15 March 2017

one day you will play the witcher 3, and regret every time you put it off.

    on 16 March 2017

    Lol, I'm just teasing you.
Though, Disgaea 5 > The Witcher 3 will very likely happen. Disgaea is too good.

< BraLoD posted something on bananaking21's wall:

So, Horizon > The Witcher 3?

    So far no.

    on 06 March 2017

    Close enough?

    on 06 March 2017

i have yet to finish it, so its not fair for me to say no. but so far the only thing that comes close is Red Dead Redemption. as that was my favorite game before TW3 beat it.

but overall i am loving the game, its gameplay is utterly fantastic and its very tactical yet fast paced. as i told you before launch the game isnt as refined as it could be, but that doesnt mean the game isnt great.

i am 21:45 hours in and i still have A LOT to do left, and i am just loving it. easily going to be a contender of GOTY even though this year is stuffed with amazing games i want.

i will say, i love how its important to hit enemies on their week spots, and that hits arent the same on each area. it makes things more tactical and hard, yet more rewarding.

and fighting flying enemies in this is outstanding

    on 07 March 2017

Well, yeah, they are fucking solid steel on most parts, some arrows shouldn't hurt them much there.

Yesterday I saw a game that was focusing on taming them, and making they fight against each other, he did it to the aligator robots and the t-rex robots, boy that was so fucking epic hahaha.

Did you get it? Need some info like max players in a match, how many modes, is there a single player campaign and is it fun :P

    i got it

    5 modes

1v1 (no power ups or perks. no respawns, 5 rounds)
2v2 (no power ups or perks. no respawns 5 rounds)

4 v4 dominion (capture points, basically domination. no power ups, but yes for perks and respawning)

4v4 elimination ( no respawns. you are set up against 1 if you kill him go try find the rest of your team. some run away to try gang up on others. its a fun mode, more so than you would imagine) 5 rounds, which team wins 3 first wins

4v4 skirmish (the weakest of all modes IMO. its just a regular team death match, but its basically too hectic,

    12 Hero's/characters. 4 from each faction

its really really fun. it has a very steep learning curve which i find great. while 5 modes might seem low, they actually provide very different experiences, the gameplay is very tactical so when the objective is different how you approach the game can change quite a lot.

havent touched the story mode yet honestly. i am leaving it till after Horizon,

around 10 maps i think, but whats awesome is that they have weather effects and day night options, so sometimes they look really different and feel really different. graphics are top notch btw.

map lay outs are also fun, they did a great job with level design, each level is actually different than the other, which offers more dynamic gameplay tbh

would recommend, but it can be frustrating at times due to how some people play (spam the same attack, and if you dont know how to block it yet it could be frustrating) but overall it relies heavily on skill

    on 20 February 2017

    Thx for that's detailed explanation.

    on 20 February 2017

    no worries.

    are you getting it btw?

    on 20 February 2017

Will see maybe at a later date where I can judge it's longevity. But I don't want to totally miss out since it looks like it offers something fresh.

    on 20 February 2017

yeah its pretty fresh, thats what i like about it. its just a unique multiplayer game

ohh and i should note, ubisoft is being ubisoft with the servers. sometimes they are good, sometimes they arent.

    on 20 February 2017

Let me guess they're also still pushing that Uplay thing in this game.

    on 20 February 2017

yeah you have to make an account to play it. i dont know why ubisoft does this shit.

    on 20 February 2017

Ubisoft dreams of a relevant online services ( whatever that Uplay thing is)

    on 20 February 2017

its crazy honestly. and its just utterly useless. i have a uplay account linked to my PSN because i made one to register for the closed beta of for honor. but other than that i never used it. they dream of a good online service yet their servers are shit lol

For Honor? looked for it in 3 stores, couldnt find it. there are two stores on the way back home that i will look in. but i want to get it for 45, cheapest i found is 50. 5$ bucks matter yo!

    on 15 February 2017

    Nioh, you bitch!
Ever better now that you aren't finding For Honor, so you can get Nioh instead, and realise how much better you are now!

    on 15 February 2017

i can find for honor for 50 easily. i saw multiple stores post online that they have it for 50, and would deliver it to my house too lol. but im hoping to save 5 bucks yo!

also horizon seems to be going to be released between sunday and tuesday here, hopefully. so looks like i will get it a week earlier.

    on 15 February 2017

As long as you don't spoil it for us, enjoy it!

But seriously, Nioh is da bomb, do yourself a favor.
I kept bothering you to get Bloodborne, you loved it, don't waste time again.

    on 15 February 2017

But I didn't get bloodborne because you kept nagging. I got it because it genuinely interested me. The theme, the verisical gameplay, the enemies and monsters.

Niohs theme isn't that appealing to me. And the gameplay I seen isn't really interesting me. I'm not saying it's not a good game. I'm just saying it just doesn't click with me

    on 15 February 2017

I'm telling you, bananaboy, give it a try, you'll love it, believe me, as you should've with Bloodborne.
Seriously, Nioh is probably going to be better than Bloodborne, I'm not kiding.

    on 16 February 2017

    yaaa.... no...

i already got For Honor. and its epic baby... its epic...

next will be Horizon, then Mass Effect. after that South Park.... i also have LBP3 and Beyond Two souls in my backlog... damn... so much games... so little time. by the time im done with all those it will probably be Red Dead Redemption time... hot damn... then farcry 5 (we know its coming!)... holly shit is PS4 getting SO MUCH GAMES.

    on 16 February 2017

You will regret when you play it in a year or so then, Nioh is so good it may even give Horizon a run for its money as my GOTY this year, and wasn't it for stuff I'm so hyped as GoW 4 and TLOU 2, maybe even for GOTG.

Even if you are stacked and not interested in the theme as you were for Bloodborne, seriously, give this game a try, don't ignore it.

    on 16 February 2017

< BraLoD posted something on bananaking21's wall:

Go get Nioh, this is the thing before Horizon.

well i saw it and i remembered you :P

yeah For Honor is coming out in 6 days, in 3 of those there will be an open beta. so FH is the thing before horizon!

i am pumped for Horizon more though. that thing looks epic.

    on 08 February 2017

Horizon might be a strong GOTG candidate, so yeah, pretty damn excited, probably the most interesting thing out this year if God of War 4 comes 2018.

You should try Nioh, tho, you liked Bloodborne, and it's kinda similar, but with samurais and japanese demons instead of british folk and gothic beasts, and more skill based.

Nioh plays how The Witcher should, to be as acclaimed as it is. Nioh is that good.

    on 08 February 2017

yeah a lot of what attracted me to bloodborne was the style. its dark theme just clicked with me. japanese demons... not so much.

i doubt Horizon will be a GOTG contender, GOTY maybe. but its usually the second or third game from a franchise that reaches its full potential. GG seem to have done a very good job, but i doubt it will feel as refined as a GOTG contender usually is.

    on 08 February 2017

Well, my personal GOTG games since the 5th gen, aka when PS starts, are all new IPs. The difference from Horizon is that they were pretty late gen games.

PS1- The Legend of Dragoon, new IP, came right before the PS2, around 3 months both on Japan and here.

PS2- Shadow of the Colossus, new IP, came one year before the PS3.

PS3- The Last of Us, new IP, came 5 months before the PS4.

All news IPs, all Sony 1st party games, but all late gen games. I see a lot of potential for that on Horizon, actually it reminds me a bit of how I felt about Red Dead Redemption, even though it was topped by other games like GoW 3, Demon's Souls and The Last of Us, in the end.
