Not longer in MH3U. In Tri you had additional optional objectives. For the mushrooms, you could deliver some other sorts of mushrooms for the subquests. In fighting-quests it is often something like cutting the tail or defeating some amount of smaller monsters besides the big one. No biggie really, but it gave a sort of accomplishment to not only defeat the main objective but also the subquests. You also got extra-stuff for subquests and more money.
