Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Is Unhappy About Surge in Short Term Switch Online Plans

As an asshole, here's what I would do: Tiers.

-If you subscribed, you get NES games every month.
-After six months, you gain access to SNES games.
-Another six months? GBA and GB titles.
-Six more months ? Nintendo 64!
-Still with us? GameCube games. Maybe even Wii games.

If your subscription laps for any reason, you either drop down a tier OR if you really want to be an ass, start back at day one. I'd just keep dangling that carrot.

I think the big thing they need to do is to start adding SNES and N64 games to show that they truly mean this to be a replacement to the virtual console instead of just a NES subscription (and of course online play). If they do that, well that and add voice chat to the actual system, then I'm very happy with it - in fact I think that its quite a good deal if they do that.

I don't think that is necessary - with the time based tiers. The reason people are getting short one month subscriptions is because they aren't sure if they want Switch Online. They don't need tiers they just need more value right off the bat. I'd be pretty pissed if I had to wait six months, a year or more to get all the benefits. That'd be awful for customers. They just need throw out a bunch of games from other systems besides the NES. Adding online functionality to these games is cool but that adds to the time it takes to release them. Just release the games first and then maybe with a later update add online functionality to some of them. Switch Online would be an amazing deal if it becomes a full on subscription replacement for the VC, meaning they have at least NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBA libraries on there.

Here are the steps:

Turn the NES library into a full on subscription-based VC replacement with multiple systems.

Add voice chat built in to online games instead of the stupid phone app.

Update matchmaking in Mario Kart and any other games that have awful matchmaking (i couldn't believe it when I couldn't join a match as a group with my brothers and instead we just had to play our own game against CPU players, that is beyond ridiculous).

I always figured companies would prefer when people get the 1 month plan, since it fucking auto renews anyways until you cancel.

I pay monthly for both Switch and PSN, and only occasionally will I unsub for a few months.

Honestly, the really need to do two things, better communication on device and a bit more features (activity tracker that is detailed for people who get subscription) but not at the expense of loading on switch. I love the loading on switch and "miiverse" and "themes" would hinder that, so I want nothing along those lines at all. So the worse thing in my mind is showcasing Miiverse and Themes again as an offering.

Maybe they should improve their services? Just a thought. Hiding behind a lower monthly cost is no excuse for still employing archaic solutions in almost all aspects of online functionality and features, online has been a key factor in gaming for well over a decade and the time for excuses has long since passed.

It's definitely not a premium experience, but they aren't charging premium dollars.  I happily paid the measly $35 for the yearly family plan.  It costs more to stop at a fast food place for a shit lunch or to see an hour and a half movie at a theater.

I can play Monster Hunter to my hearts content...maybe toss some Kart, Smash or Splatoon into the mix.  I'm happy as a clam, if clams are indeed happy.

Anything else they toss in beyond that is just peachy.

Someone mentioned the OS as a detractor of the overall experience.  I think that that's all subjective and up to personal preference, not necessarily that there is anything wrong or bad about it.  Personally, I love the ui's no frills look and functionality.  It's simple, clean and fast.  I do miss some of the social aspect that WiiU had built in, and would like to see better communication options, ala xbl.

The e-shop could use some work, also.  Feels messy compared to the rest of the ui (ie. too busy) and not well organized.

I seriously hope you mean fast food for a whole family, if not poor you xD

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I have the family plan, so I'm comparing it to the family lunch out or family out to the movies plan.  =p

What music are you referring to?

He means the mindnumbing music you have to listen to while on OS screen every time you are on the OS screen. Some people are obsessed about it and other features Wii U had, but for some reason forget how long it took Wii U to do stuff, that Nintendo for awhile constantly had to do performance patches and promise it will improve.

I am on the side of simple, clean, easy to load and nothing hindering me from getting to what I care about the most about the games. This is one of switch's draw that it is quick to play and quick to use.
