Forums - Sales - Your thoughts on Japan's hardware sale

Sales should be remarkably close for the three consoles in Japan this week.

I suspect that Wii still has the highest demand of the big three - although things are going to luck muddled until holiday demand kicks in.  If somehow PS3 outsells Wii after the release of Wii Fit and the influx of holiday demand for the rest of 2007, then I'd be willing to ammend my position that Wii will dominate Japan.  Japanese sales rates don't really increase until late November/early December though, so we're weeks away from knowing for certain.

Wii Fit I suspect will be a slow burner - mediocre debut due to cost - but see very little weekly change in sales as people become addicted to it.

Still if Mario/Wii Fit/holiday demand can't propell Wii ahead of PS3 in Japan this holiday, then the only other titles with even the potential to provide some kind of bump would be Nights, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronciles, and Super Smash Brothers (all coming for the Japanese holidays late Nov to January).  Brawl is really the only guarenteed big Wii title for Japan until Mario Kart.

Well its isn't unheard of, PS2 back in 2001 was in the 30-40K range until the first week of december when it spiked to over 100K

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Well according to the source wii sales wil end up around 30-34k

I expect 32k.

So you are going by your own psychic intuition and comparing it to a biased and probably, inaccurate article about one store.

Wait until a more credible source posts something before claiming such things all over the place. This is the 3rd place ive seen you post that the PS3 has beaten the Wii this week yet you have no solid proof. Prepare to eat major crow, which seems to be your favorite dish.

I am really interested to see where 360 goes after Lost Odyssey comes out, more so if it gets rave reviews. Could that game pump blood into the dead body of XBOX in Japan.

To be honest even if it was selling 15-20000 a week in 2008 it would be suprising and amazing.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I think this will be the first of many weeks of The PS3 outselling the competition since the Wii was at 21k two weeks before SMG came out, if the PS3 can maintain this, it can start surmounting a comebac, 360 will fall back to 3-4k once AC6 dies down... But the Wii may not die easy due to Wii Fit. Are we putting that on the sales charts as a game? It is a peripheral and it ties into a workout regimen but I'm not sure if it's a game... but if it is, that will dominate charts if they can keep the perpherals in continuous shipping. I hope it's not true but the casual gamers will eat that up, and that may spike it ahead of the PS3.

If 360 holds at least 15k a week I think it would be considered a victory. Typically, titles have comes out, sales rise one week then drop like a rock the next. If sales hold that is a great sign.

I don't know how I missed it I was looking at the front page of this site.
360 is doing well still then.
Is PS3 surge temporary or Wii really slowing down?
Thanks for the update leo-j.

You start the post, then Leo is totally defensive towards you- and you reply with this nice post.

amazing, You are pure class all the way.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

The tepid sales of the Wii are disconcerting. I would say that the PS3, and the 360 are making a come back. Based primarily on software. I would definitely not underestimate the other two competitors. Which is what concerns me perhaps that is going to be Nintendo's problem this holiday season. Not that it hasn't been their problem in the past.

They have made no plans to increase their consoles value. No price cutting, and no new pack in offers. They have delayed one of the big three into next year, and the other two have only received modest successes. This while the other two are making wonderful offers to consumers, and have in all honesty some fantastic titles coming. While Nintendo is still milking the cow that is motion supporting mini games. Yes that is what Olympics, and Wii fit basically are.

I hope Nintendo decided to be more proactive. I know they want to squeeze every cent out of their current market that they can. However during this holiday season they really need to shut the other two down, and that is not going to happen unless they are aggressive. They have made it far too comfortable for the other two as it is.

I just see Microsoft and Sony capitalizing on fat, and happy Nintendo being over confident in their position. Thats what the hardware is telling me. Nintendo just isn't budging on their hard line stance, and its causing their console to slide. While the others are making ground. I just hope Nintendo doesn't fritter away this holiday season in the bank vault rolling in money. That would just be sad.
