| TheSource said: Sales should be remarkably close for the three consoles in Japan this week. I suspect that Wii still has the highest demand of the big three - although things are going to luck muddled until holiday demand kicks in. If somehow PS3 outsells Wii after the release of Wii Fit and the influx of holiday demand for the rest of 2007, then I'd be willing to ammend my position that Wii will dominate Japan. Japanese sales rates don't really increase until late November/early December though, so we're weeks away from knowing for certain. Wii Fit I suspect will be a slow burner - mediocre debut due to cost - but see very little weekly change in sales as people become addicted to it. Still if Mario/Wii Fit/holiday demand can't propell Wii ahead of PS3 in Japan this holiday, then the only other titles with even the potential to provide some kind of bump would be Nights, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronciles, and Super Smash Brothers (all coming for the Japanese holidays late Nov to January). Brawl is really the only guarenteed big Wii title for Japan until Mario Kart. |
Well its isn't unheard of, PS2 back in 2001 was in the 30-40K range until the first week of december when it spiked to over 100K
