The memory stick currently inside my PSP is tiny- 32MB. It holds absolutely nothing. It's also a Memory Stick Duo. Now, you can't even buy Duos any more. However, Pro Duos are readily available and extremely cheap.

I bought it back in December of 2005, so will a Pro Duo work?

Yes definitely, though I would certainly recommend an upgrade to the 3000

I'll be playing PSP for a week or so until my PS3 is repaired, and then maybe on some bus journeys.

There's no real point in buying a new PSP when the PSP2 is probably just a year or so away. And for the price, I could buy three PS3 games, or a 360.

Anyway, thanks for the re-assurance. One more question: What's the difference between a Pro Duo Mark Two and a Pro Duo? Because the Mark Two is 49p cheaper for some reason I can't fathom.

Mark 2 Certification

As of early 2008, Mark 2-certified versions of the Memory Stick PRO Duo became available. The Mark 2 designation indicates the Memory Stick is suitable for use with AVCHD recording products or other faster Memory Stick enabled devices by providing appropriate minimum write performance.

You should probably just buy the Mark 2 one. When I bought my gf a PSP 3000 value pack last year the memory stick included was a 4gb Pro Duo Mark 2 card, so I'm pretty sure that's the one Sony is going with it.
