Didn't we ALREADY go thru this in 2008...and 2007 to a certian extent? The law of business aren't going to change...M$ makes more money on the 360 than Sony does on the PS3...every move M$ makes, forces Sony to react in a negative way to their bottomline. 4-5 years into the console war, profitability is becoming more important than market share. Remember when people scoffed at the thought of the 360 selling 50 million LTD...

lol i knwo right how much more of a price cut can do for mr.microsoft. Customer will view it as a console becoming obsolete.

At the moment?  The 360 and Wii are always going to be cheaper to produce than the PS3.  Sony has to sell their more expensive hardware at similar price points to even compete.  They have to support free online for everyone (servers, people, and bandwidth to support 10-20 million people isn't cheap).  They don't make as much money off addons as the competition.  In every respect Sony seems to have gone out of their way to make their business less lucrative.  As for this momentum, it's a false momentum since they're actually losing market share and revenue in the video game business as a whole.

Sony has actually performed worse in 2009 compared to the competition and losing more money than them as well.  To me that isn't momentum and it's not the kind of thing that deserves any kind of congratulations or threads that imply the competition is in trouble.  As for Microsoft they may have lost revenue but it was the same amount that Nintendo lost and can be blamed on the economy as a whole.

Who would have thought this Generation that we would be talking about MS needing to do something to maintain a (lead) they will have held over......who..........SONY!!!.....  While also selling over a million consoles in Japan.

In my book, this gen has been and continues to be a huge success for MS, so ultimately I think they are doing just fine.

I find some things funny.

When the PS3 was in third and things were doom and gloom, there were people that said 3rd is fine and PS3 didn't need to do better.

Now that the PS3 is doing better, those same people are acting as if 3rd isn't just fine and it means failure.

I dont think so.  Despite with the issues that Ps3 is facing behind the curtains, I am sure they will be second place no tiem soon.

I never owned any Sony's console.  But Ps3 by itself makes your living room look sexy for some reason ><

But they didn't release the same time and the ps3 is not on top, it's over 5 million behind FACT.....
