I would describe it as a modest failure, not a serious one. It was commercially successful, no doubt, but it didn't do a very good job of either grabbing new users or satisfying established fans of the series.

hey Savior.. are you Rol'ing us?

I get the feeling he is.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I'd consider Wii music the bigger failure IMO. Ok AC should have done better but it was never really that succesful to start with, so expecting it to really explode wasnt really realistic. I mean the only 2 series to really outperform their predecessor on the Wii were Mario Kart and Mario Party, and both capitalized on the Wii mote's functionality, something AC didnt.

Hey it got me a Wiispeak for 10 euro's.... no idea what other game uses Wiispeak but I got one!

Animal crossing wasn't a failure, 3.75 million copies is a lot, and the game is tons of fun! Plus I got Wii Speak for free when I bought it.

So is Punch-Out!  a massive failure to you then?

No, I don't agree. Selling 3.75 million cannot be a failure, I don't care who the publisher is. Especially for a game like this.

Nobody fails like Nintendo does.

Someone never checked the DS sales for wild world.

In my opinion, they need to expand and evolve the series in numerous ways if they wanna keep the series a hit. If they choose to not innovate/evolve it, they should never release a console Animal Crossing again. Handheld AC's will still do pretty well for the way the series is at the moment, but console titles need something huge, and less limited than City Folk was.

Looking at it from a completely formal view, Animal Crossing: City folk was actually a hit. It just wasn't any different from the gamecube title with online that you could find on the DS version anyway. Oh, and animal tracks ruined it for some people.

I think it didn't do enough for nintendo nor for old-timers, but for me it was great as I'd never had an Animal Crossing game before and I played it non-stop until about February!
