Given this thread NEEDED to be in the MS forum, not the general gaming forum, it is only possible to make this claim in relation to 360 this gen.

Truly, a mulitplat title can only be best of ALL TIME if it can justifiably make that claim for all systems on which it's playable. It can't make that claim on all systems for which it's available, therefore the claim can only be advanced in favour of action games available on 360.

Overall, I much prefer The God of War games and the Ninja Gaiden series, and even two of the four Devil May Cry games.

As for the combat, the only thing that impressed me and made it any better then Devil May Cry was the ability to so easily dodge by pressing R2 (I played on ps3) and the ability to activate witch time. Other then that, it was equal in terms of combat to Devil May Cry. Both are fast paced, smooth and over the top. Bayonetta is just 11 notches higher in the over the top meter but at the expense of being way overly cheesy and suffering from all of the things that I find distaste for from Eastern games. I found myself skipping every cutscene halfway through the game including the end. I can see where the argument can be made, and why so many people may find the combat so much better then the other games I mentioned. But personally, I could barely stomach the game, despite the stellar combat. I could stomach the nonsense plot of NG, but this game was at a putrid level.

Personally, I like GoW for the full package, and Ninja Gaiden for the combat.

its true that it might be the best action game on the 360, but of ALL TIME? if only sega/sony didn't f*** the game up on ps3 then maybe it has a shot, but it wasn't the case. sorry, try again bayonetta....it was good, but not the best out there...

Bayonetta is so much better on 360 it should be considered an exclusive.

OT:Only played the demo and the ps3 version tho base on what I played it wasn't the "best shit evah" like your saying I enjoyed darksider more than it but nice to know you liked the game.

Greatest Xbox 360 exclusive action game yeah, but greatest of all time nah. Technically DMC 3 is still better 4 not so much.

Sorry I disagree. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is still a better game for me. The action is fun in Bayonetta but not as strategic. And by strategic I don't mean hard. In Bayonetta when you encounter an enemy you start your little button sequence motion that's similar to a rhythm game where you start pushing buttons in a certain order to get a desired action and that's cool and all and is similar to DMC which also provides this style of fighting but that's not the same as NGS2.

In NGS2 all of sudden you're jumped by a bunch of Ninjas out to kill you so instead of immediately getting close to them and starting a bunch of flashy combos so that I can go off and do the same to the next, I come up with a strategy. I run at an enemy jump towards him grab him throw him in midair so that a bunch aren't still gathered around me. But still with a bunch near me I decide the safest place is in the air so I immediately start a combo that leads me in the sky. I Izuma drop him so that it knocks the others back as well as do a good amount of damage. And as soon as I release him I flip towards the floor and right when I land I hold the triangle button to instantly absorb a yellow orb so that I can unlesh my weapons potential.

THAT'S NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA 2! That mixed with cool characters stages and badass weapons like a Scythe that create cool combos and a billion of different ways to approach a fight and find a way to succesfully juggle enemies without getting killed is a lot more rewarding, fun, entertaining and better.

GOW is a good game but the gameplay isn't up to par with the others it relies on old game mechanics. Your enemies just get hit by your weapons you can't actually engage them and the enemies instead of relying on a good AI just get cheap tactics where when they start a special move they're just invulnerable to damage.

Poeple who haven't played the "superior version" are enjoying it as almost much as the others.

The only thing that sometimes can be frustrating to me are the pause loading times, then again, i'm no graphics whore at all
