i agree with that post. im just saying dont say the wii targets little kids. the ps3 and xbox target the older kids, i agree. the wii targets them too, it just gets faded out by the fact that it targets EVERYONE. it gets little kids, mature young adults, older people, everyone. it targets everyone, not little kid pacific. so the kid can start with baby games (baby games that i personally can enjoy just as much, does that make me a baby just because i like having fun?) move on to more mature games like zelda (zelda is a decently mature game. good graphics with a little graphic scenes and violence) and games like god father (possibly even GTA sometime) then go back to more simple games when they get old. although im thinking that over the years, in this new society, they will never really lose their ability to play complex mature games, and they will also NEVER lose their appreciation for the simple pure fun games.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

pacific = specific, that's all

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Bottom line. If the Wii wasn't a thread, MS wouldn't even mention them. There would be no need. And if the 360 had quality merits, they would focus on those. But all they can do is sling mud at Nintendo. The Wii is for babies? That's why there are stories of retirement homes getting Wiis for Wii Sports... Now I do agree that a lot of teenagers want FPSs. I grew up with Nintendo. Platformers, RPGs, and Adventure games have been and still are my favorite genras. My brothers are 10+ years younger and they just love FPSs... Halo for hours and hours and hours. I played through Halo single player and thought it was ok, never got what all the hype was about. But the problem that MS is in is that they only make FPS games. That's it, or at least 99.99% of their games... So how many FPS games will people buy, especially if they are all pretty much the same. With Nintendo you get two things. First you get a lot of great games from your favorite franchises. Love em or hate em, you will see a Mario, Metroid, Zelda etc. games on every system, sometimes two main games. Then a bunch of spinoffs. If you don't like those then don't buy them. Second you will get a lot of new IPs, every year. It would be nice to see a list of all the new games companies make, that 1) aren't a sequel, and 2) aren't a cookie cutter game. I would bet that Nintendo is way ahead of any other publisher year after year. EA may be the #1 publisher, but what new IPs do they make year after year? Sony is even worse off then MS. Sony has the highest price point AND they are losing money on each system. At least MS is making money now. And what is Sony best for? RPGs, imo. And those are all 3rd party games. When they go multiplatform, or exclusive to the Wii, Sony will be in a world of hurt. And I think the most important thing is this. If MS and Sony want to fight over the 14-19 year olds that is fine. There are a lot more 5-13 and 20-99 year olds that Nintendo can make the Wii appeal too.

I'd say they are fighting for what's going into the living room. Which are HDTVs. And Sony in addition is fighting for the format that dominates the living room. So they have more objectives than Nintendo does in this regard. I'd say the target market is 13-29 just like the movie industry targets. For me, I have not seen a single Wii title I would be interested in. This is just me of course, and just my opinion. I used to love Nintendo, Mario, Zelda, Metroid. But IMO they have started no new franchises that would interest me. I've grown up and I'm over mario and zelda and metroid. The one new franchise they looked like the might be starting was the Rogue Squadron Franchise, which I thought was excellent on GC. But they won't have that this time. Also RE0 and RE1 and Eternal Darkness which were excellent games. But the RE they are getting this time will be the low-brow version. RE0 and RE1 were stunning both graphically and in gameplay. RE0 and RE1 were easily the best looking games of the last generation. I just have not seen a single game that really impressed me or made me want to play over and over again. There are plenty of titles that intrigue me from 360 and PS3. Again, that's just me.

PS3 and 360 are definitely fighting for your living room, no doubt about that. But that is an expesive battle especially since there are two companies with a lot of money fighting each other. I think if you want FPS, Realistic Sports (i.e. not Mario Baseball), Realistic Racing Games (i.e. not F-Zero) you need a 360. If you want RPGs you needed a PS2, maybe PS3, we will see. If you want adventure games and platformers then you need a Wii. If you want new IPs or a new way to play old games you need a Wii. Personnaly I dont care about FPS, or Realistic sports or racing games. Ill take Metroid over any FPS and F-Zero over any racer, and Mario (insert sports title here) over any Madden or other realistic sports game without a second thought. I do really like RPGs tho, especially turn based, so hopefully I will get some on the Wii. I had planned to get a PS3 mainly to play all the DQ and FF games I missed on the PS2, but at $600 I just can't pull the trigger. At $300 I would be playing some FF game right now instead of posting... Maybe in a couple of years...

i dont agree with that. the realistic sports for the box, i dont agree with that. the xbox gets a bunch of genaric jank sports games that suck, so you can forget about those. so basically what your saying is all the EA sports games (because EA has sole rights for just about everything) is best on the box? becuase madden 07, for example, got the highest review of any of the consoles (GC, PS2/3, xbox/360) version. people said it was the best on the wii. and let me tell, ive been a madden loser since 01 and i have to say for the wii, it not only revives the franchise that has been going downhill with nothing good to add, but its an amazing game. the motion sensitivity works great, feels natural, really adds alot to the game. (hence the higher rating for the wii) other EA sports games will follow this im sure. basketball, golf (easily better for the wii, go ahead and check the reviews)boxing games especially. they are all better for the wii, and i know thats an opinion, but what im basing it on is fact. the fact is on gamespot and any other point based rating reviews, sports games for the wii have been higher, ussually sinificantly. you mention mario sports games, well, those are secondary to EA. name one exclusive sports franchise for the box that isnt complete jank? im not trying to be harsh here, im just making my point, and my point is if you want real hardcore sports games, you need the wii. and dont even argue graphics, cause EA makes em all the same for the systems, seriously, you can NOT tell the difference i dont care what TV you have. wii is the sports system now, and the xbox never was i dont think. it just has alot of jank sports games that no one gets.

I think sports games suck, and will always be that way. The Games I usually watch for are the 'high budget' ones. Zelda, Metroid prime, Mario Galaxy, SSB, and Animal Crossing. Those are the ones I am thinking of off the top of my head from nintendo. Resistance, Motorstorm, Final Fantasy, White Knight, Killzone, Heavenly Sword, God of War, LAIR, and GT. For the big sony ones. Microsoft has quite a few, but most of the ones I think of are, Halo... and well... halo. That's just for first party. 3rd party really dont have any 'high' budget ones coming for Wii, or PS3 exclusive. 360 is getting some, and there are some 360/PS3 multiplatform ones coming. That's what I watch.

Extra Extra! Read all about it! Corporate guy says something stupid about the competition! What I don't get is why anyone even turns this into a news story. If I was interviewing a corporate spokesperson/CEO of a gaming company and they said something like this of the competition, in my interview I'd cut out those statements and type *mudsling babble*. Really, statements like that shouldn't be listened too, let alone discussed.
