a GAME's worth of content though?

I doubt that was true, just a throw away, not literal....

and if it was, then looking at the OP it wouldnt have fit on a blu-ray either! lol.  Dammit... PS3 limiting my 360 FFXIII.

QFT

oh & half of the content wasn't cut out, carl jsut put that in the side heading to get more views

finally the a whole new game? how big would this game be?

please don't tell me you think FFXIII's main quest was meant to be over 100 hours long

as right now the main quest is 40 - 60 hours

How much content could have really been cut out? I doubt this was going towards being the longest FF ever

Its not my word, its the word on the net..

Why would square cut a games worth of content? There WILL BE NO DLC, they already confirmed it.

Its just plain stupid to do that if you can use more space for the content to fit.

I dont know.... why would Lady Ga-Ga or any other artist have say 30 songs availabale for their latest album and reduce it to 12 or 13 for the final cut?

Why is their always a directors cut of big movies where they are around 30 mins longer, made up of stuff they cut from the original version?

You tell me.

so they can farm more money down the road...... and they will have an international version... mark my words....

I don't know if S-E left content out of the game because of X360 but I really don't see how this debunks that asumption. Game content (whole FF map) is still 6.8gb (limit of X360 Dual-Layer DVD) and If I am correct every disc contains whole FF world. With compression they obviously take couple gigs away but sill we have something like 4gb data to be repeated on every disc so there is about 3gigs of space to fill with compressed cutscenes. S-E's target was 3 DVD's so maybe they left some contet out that they thought was unworthy or maybe they didn't. This is just speculation.

Would this still be the case when there is no backtracking to any locations from chapters 1-10?

Maybe the new one will be that we don't have backtracking because of 360?

No backtracking would allow them to split up that 6.8GB across the 3 discs instead of needed to repeat data on each disc?

I'm not sure how it all works but i'm taking a stab in the dark here.

@Euphoria14:

Did anyone actually complain about the amount of cutscenes?

No there is no backtracking, but after you beat the final boss you can backtrack apparently

I can say that recording artist can put 20 songs on a CD but they only get paid for 8-12 of them. Which means the rest is basically on there for free.

Later on though they might release a ultimate collection of unreleased songs with those extra songs on there and charge you again.

Just a lil speculation.

A typical games worth of content is 6-8 hours, so out of 100 hours (which SE said it is)... they only cut 6-8%.

Not sure you're serious or trying to be smart, but here is the first reply in this very thread.

what the hell is this, a game or movie?

These are in the following few pages.

This tells me a lot. I just raher watch a better movie. It's cheaper and shorter. After that, I'll play some Final Fantasy V, wich is much better of a game.

WoW....and no wonder its being hailed as linier, ah well might pick it up when its dirt cheap.

Not to try and be a jerk, but did you read the entire thread? It has a bit of complaining like this and a lot of people claiming that it either debunks the notion that 360 held it back or not.
