Most cutscenes in WRPGs are done in-engine so I don't think they can be measured.
IIRC, most of disc space in WRPGs goes to voice acting.

Actually I agree with you, I think that a Flash Card based medium would be good as well, and as Flash Cards evolve in terms of data transfer speed and storage space, they could eventually over take optical media.
I just hope that this type of discussions and excuses aren't thrown unilateraly against one genre, when in today's HD gaming, most of the high budget games are filled with cuscenes and pre-set pieces that take up a lot of space too, not just in JRPG genre.

BS. Uncompressed video is not possible on today's consoles or PCs (unless you have an ultra-fast hard drive).
Uncompressed audio, yes. Video, no.

Never the less they are cutscens right? You don't control anything in cutscenes. Dragon Age: Origins had tons of cutscenes, Mass Effect did too. It may be in-engine, yet the fact remains that they take up viable game time, just as any FMV in JRPG gamimg.

Doesn't confirm anything. It means that the game upscales to 1080p.

There is nine hours of cutscenes which is not even a 1/4 of the time it takes to beat the main story. Cutscenes take a lot of space because they use higher res versions of the characters and environments for them. I have seen footage for FFXIII. The characters have slightly more detail in the cutscenes than in the gameplay.

Just in case someone still doubts it, here is the easy calculation to show why:
1920 pixels * 1080 pixels * 3 bytes per pixel (red, green blue) * 24 frames per second = 149 299 200 bytes = 145 800 KB = 142 MB per second.
Where are the hard drives, or optical drives that can read that fast? And where is the storage medium to store 500 GB per hour of movies?
