Although the Wii is the market leader, it doesnt seem to get the respect from the gaming community (industry) + media as opposed to the HD twins. The hd twins seems to be the mascot/face of gaming, and the wii is simply disregarded or ignored.

3 main reason IMO for this.

1) it lacks innovation in regards to alot of gaming aspects (graphics etc)

2) Third parties are just not selling, relative to its marketshare.

3) its has a more casual demograhic as oppose to the traditional " gaming" demograhic

Graphic is an innovation?

And here I thought it was the wiimote or mario galaxy......

It's a proven fact that it is not motion controls or revolutionary platform games that defines innovation, proof of that is Wii's poor sales and last place this gen.

Get your facts straight Sir.

no

No, it is not getting any respect from the gaming industry. In fact, the behavior of the industry towards the wii is downright disgusting.

The only saving grace is that the general public gives it the respect it deserves.

And your point 1 was not smart imo. Nintendo is full of innovation. The view that innovation means better graphics is one of the HD consoles biggest problems. They ONLY improve the graphics. But MS is changing that with Natal. But it is my opinion that sony with the wand is not innovating, but merely copying Nintendo.

Your #2 and #3 sound about right though.

They're under-respected, and they don't deserve all the hate they're getting. The majority of the haters most like don't know 80% of the quality titles for it and what's coming later this year, monster hunter tri, red steel 2, mario galaxy 2 ect.

lol at innovative graphics. What since the advent of 3D gaming could really be considered a graphical innovation?

Ofcourse Wii doesn't get the respect it deserves. The only people who would say otherwise hate the Wii.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

Of course it gets the respect it deserves through sales.

hmmm i didn't know the graphics was much of an innovation..

and no its not getting respect, from the gaming media anyway

Not from the development community, publishers or (especially) the games media. Even the financial sector's come around too slowly, and you still get crazies there predicting an eventual 360 and/or PS3 takeover.

Mainstream media and retail adore it though. As does the market itself, which is probably the most important part of the industry.

yes, by Nintendo and patcher

It gets every bit of respect it deserves, why pepole assume that only respect from the industry "counts", and not consumer respect is another subject.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
