Yeah but what it translates to sales is a bit vague. Any idea on first week shipment numbers?

I think it could have legs. Word Of Mouth helps carry MMO's I feel, and...it's a DQ game. For now, I expect LT sales of 500-650 in Japan, and around a million if released WW.
Guys! Guys!

Well, SE is expecting to ship around 3.9M for the fiscal year 2013 in Japan, so I'll asume that less than a million, maybe something between 500-750k.

Stop dreaming Spurge. Japanese games don't have legs. First week sales are traditionally 50% of LT sales, if not more.
So... does anyone fancy explaining to me what the points translate to in COMG's pre-order chart? I've thought about it but it doesn't make a great deal of sense without any context. Thank you :)

The thing is, each COMG point represents something like one preorder at a certain store. That's it.
In general though, you can multiply points by about a thousand in order to guess week one sales. There is variation based on the type of game and the platform. For example, Nintendo and casual games tend to be underrepresented at COMG.

Hmm, okay, that makes sense. I wondered if the points were part of a scale where each point represented a certain amount. So it's more just a ranking scale, the longer you follow it the more idea you get of how things are going to sell?

Yeah, pretty much. Of course, you don't need to spend too much time to figure certain things out. For example, Resident Evil 6 is going to be huge. Practice just helps us guess exactly how huge it'll be.
16 point increase for DQX today! It's at 331 pt
