If Sony europe weren't dumb, they can destroy the Xbox on the continent. But yet we still don't have 20% of the functions that UK has, and PAL region is still getting crappy treatment with games. Can someone explain that? Why does Sony focuses on NA, when others are obviously their strongest region?

Most likely because NA is the biggest single region and is where the most money can be made. Sony can get a lot more return for their investment in that sort of market compared to europe where localisation costs time and money. Not to mention many other factors such as having to deal with different distributors and retailers across the different countries. Not saying it's fair but it makes sense financially to focus their efforts in NA for now.

Total sales of home consoles in Americas: ~55.5 million   (Handhelds: 63 million)
Total sales of home consoles in Others (- Non-Europe): ~46 million. (Handhelds: 59 million)

NA is only slightly bigger than Europe and Europe is almost certainly worth more money. The average price of a game in Europe is 25-50% more expensive, while the PS3 hardware is ~40% more expensive.

you people who think the ps3 will outsell the 360 for the rest of the year are not to smart. they are are outselling the 360 because of slim + price cut. when micrsoft drops there price theyll pass the ps3 in weekly sales. it will probably get cut within a couple months. and when that happen i will not be dumb and start saying xbox 360 over ps3 100k a week for 100 weeks makes 10 million.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Good points but it really doesn't make much difference.

The EU is a state with one currency just like the US but with many more languages.

Localisation is not a big issue nor is it just a Sony problem. MS and Nintendo also have to deal with these issues in EU.

In fact the euro has stated it's claim as the premium currency in world due to it's strength and circulation.

On the other hand the US$ is unstable (better now) but is very often taking a scuba dive towards third-world status before recovering, costing companies a lot of money.

True, the Euro certainly makes things easier for Sony now and MS and Nintendo obviously have the same problems. Despite a semi-single currency (11 states still don't use, though most of the largest markets do) the EU is still a fragmented market and suffers from some of the issues necessarily involved with that. Sony should still able to make a larger return to investment in the US and as you mentioned in another post they probably want to focus attention on their weaker market (especially as it's potentially so big) given their brand name is still very strong in Europe.

PS3 - awesome!

best console 2009/2010 with games, i think.

the best RPG's are coming 2013 !!!! oh my god, this is perfect for RPG-GAMER = ) Ni No Kuni - 25 january, Time and Eternity, tales of xillia (PS3) and the maybe best game ever: metal gear solid ground zero

The US market may only be slightly bigger but the costs, time and effort involved in operating there will likely be far lower than in the EU and rest of Europe. As for revenue per game/console that all depends on the exchange rates between the various countries and Japan and so a game may be more expensive in the EU than the US but may generate equal or less revenue for Sony (also import and distribution costs come into play).

I wish Sony would treat the EU the same as the US but it doesn't really make financial sense and looking at the numbers the PS3 is doing fine in the EU regardless.

Wii is over 100k more than it was last year. :O

THAT'S NSMB Wii. A new 2-D Mario platformer can have an amazing effect on the momentum of a console.

Now Nintendo just needs to prove they are still serious about the Wii with more games, particularly more motion plus and balance board games, and they need to start showing games for the vitality sensor as well. If they do this, the Wii will be an unstoppable force in 2010. If they continue to slack like in 2009 and put their trust in 3rd parties to fill the gaps (which they largely did not accomplish), sales could plummet to even worse numbers than 2009. NSMB Wii will help carry the console for a little while longer but even a game this good cannot carry it forever.

Monster Hunter 3 is a good start, I think this game will have a bigger effect in the west than people think.

yea and the fact it got a price cut..

When the price cut happened, it didn't help much, sales for the wii weren't different and were still bad against 2008. Only when NSMB Wii came it skyrocketed.

It did help, before the price cut the wii was having trouble staying ahead of the 360, while the ps3 was eating chunks of market share. After the price cut, the wii went back to its top spot console wise.

360 did better than I expected, we should see a gap of less than 50k between the PS3 and 360 for the most part during the quiet part of the year..... thats acceptable for MS I think.

dude even if the 360 sold 10 consoles you would have still said it did better than you expected! the 360 can do no wrong in your eyes and how can getting outsold by 50k a week be "acceptable" are you all forgetting the 360 is still way cheaper than the ps3 and wii and has "more games" than both of them. theres no excuses like the 360 is 5 years old or its been the same price for long. the real reason is because the wii and ps3 are so much more popular around the world than the 360, thats why the 360 cant hold up against them

Rose colored glasses are a wonderful thing don't ruin it for him
