Alright, I'll throw some out, nice to have it all on one thread (for better or worse, if they suck)...

All predictions are for the end of 2010 (week ending Jan 1 2010):

1) Wii - 86.5m

Pretty high. But, it could happen.

2) DS - 149m

Nobody predicts as high as me for the DS

3) X360 - 47.5m

4) PS3 - 43.5m

5) Top 10 selling software by yearly VGC data, will consist of (in my best effort for order):
Wii Sports, NSMB Wii, Wii Fit+, Pokemon HG/SS, WSR, Halo Reach, GT5, Wii Vitality, CoD7(360), MK Wii

Wii Vitality? Really? And no MW2?

6) 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 will be > 1m under Halo 3

I don't think so.

7) Halo Reach will sell more than GT5

Probably.

8) Epic Mickey (Wii) will sell over 1.5mil

Depends.

9) In the Americas, FFXIII for the 360 will outsell the PS3 version

No way in hell.

10) Wii will outsell the PSP in Japan for the year

Doubt it.

11) In Others, GT5 will become the top selling PS3 title (overtaking MW2 and GTA4's lifetimes)

Easily.

12) In Americas, GT5 will not make the top 10 selling software by yearly VGC data (even without Wii Sports)

I would say it will, with a good 3 million. 9th or 10th, maybe.

13) Mario Kart Wii will outsell SMG2 for the year (edit: had 2 #12's, fixed)

It might, but I don't think so.

14) Mario Kart DS will hit 20mil

If it maintains these legs, yes.

15) DQIX will hit 6mil, MH3 will hit 2mil (hits in the west!)

Hmmmm...maybe.

16) KH3 will not be announced! *shock*

Duh.
Well, that's enough I think. Some risky ones here and there, we'll see how it goes.

Some very risky ones in there. Nothing overly ridiculous, except maybe 9.

No way, except MAYBE a new PSP, which isn't really a next gen console. None of the new home consoles will launch until 2012, at the earliest.

A PSP2 or a DS2 would definitely count as a next gen console. Handhelds are a form of console, after all, and it would hardly be the same gen as Wii et al.

A Natal dedicated console, basically a suped up 360, is not so unlikely either. Overall, I think that prediction will come true in one way or another.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I hope you get a good tasteing hat. Any reason you think that would happen?

I do honestly think the wii has past its peak now, last year it sold about 2m less than the year before and I think this will almost certainly continue into this year.

I think almost all 'gamers' who want one have one by now so I cant see a new zelda/mario/metroid giving it much of a hardware bump. same goes for the few 3rd party games coming out such as monster hunter, red steel 2 and no more heroes 2. also most sequels that have come out recently have vastly under performed when compared to the originals, e.g. boom blox & resi chronicles. i just think this might be a sign of things to come in regards to hardware sales. ps3 on the other hand has been improving every year and i think this year it will really start to pick up and go into ps2/wii style numbers.

most of all though I think natal and the ps3 wand will really have an affect on the wii. once upon a time the wii got away with its comparatively crud graphics because of its unique motion control, now even this is going to look primitive compared to the ps3 and 360 offerings. I can definitely see any decent 3rd party wii game (e.g. madworld/boom blox) being easily ported to one or both and selling more than the wii version. this will give 3rd parties no more reason to support nintendo.

I know this is all very drastic thinking and im probably 3 years ahead of it happening but my point is I do think it will happen eventually. think about it, with the nes/snes nintendo were the so called 'hardcore', then 2 bigger fish entered the pond with deeper pockets and more resources. I just think history will repeat itself with the 'casual' market.

1 thing I do think is the 360/ps3 could easily switch places depending on the impact of natal/ps3 wand. I went with the ps3 because of its current momentum and the fact that natal is so different it could go either way. sony played it safe copying nintendos wand/remote design.

You could be right on the Wii. I only predicted a couple of million higher than that.

The PS3, though...what makes you think it will sell 18 million, to top 2009, the year in which the PS3 Slim and FF13 launched, by a good 40%? (The PS3 sold 12.84 million last year). I can see 14 million for the PS3, at best.
