Because some reviews which unfavourably compare this game to past FF games will mark it down the Metascore for this game will probably end up in the 8.5-8.9 range. Even if it is truly an 8.5-8.9 game it still makes it a AA title and eminently playable for all those who generally like the JRPG genre.

And possibly counter-intuitively those who are only fair weather friends of JRPG might find this a more playable FF/JRPG than the standard FF/JRPG because of its departures from the FF/JRPG gameplay standard models. It's certainly the only FF game that has really caught my eye, still don't know whether it's caught me anough to want to buy it though; maybe when it goes platinum and is 1/2 the launch price, then I'll be able to buy it used for 1/3 of the launch price

no no no, its the perfect FF for newcomers to join the franchise

& its certainly caught the eye of many non JRPG people I know too

if they market it with those amazing CGI cut scenes people like YOU will buy it!

Why the no, no, no? Are we not generally in agreement here?

@ Zenfolder: So does that mean you already own a PS3 or will you be in the market for one when FFVsXIII comes out?

its because you said "still don't know whether its caught me enough to want to buy it"

It WILL convince you, I will!

Hmmm, your enthusiasm vs. the tightness of my wallet. Who will win?

Breaking News:

Republic of Togo Magazine reviewed it : Not Good

they gave it a a 1/10

Graphic : Just one fucking black man wtf and requires too much electricity.

Story: seems fake, no way that shit exist.

Gameplay: Best since Coming to America

Value:We only bought the first 8 hours.

Conclusion:

The worst FF ever, not as bad as vii though.

I just canceled my magazine subscription.

LMAO Hilarious. Coming to America's gameplay was great though, remember the Samuel L. Jackson boss fight?

Back on topic: Has anyone ever went by this magazine's reviews before? If not, why start now?

Canceling a pre-order based on one review (let alone and unheard of one) = A BITCH-MADE REACTION

Man, it was nice back in the day when it wasn't "cool" to not like FF...

Keep in mind that this IS Hong Kong. They're the bootleg capitol of the world. They probably had a fake copy of the game called Phinal Phantasy 13 or something. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if the reviewer had a DVD of "Final Fantasy: Spirits Within and pressed buttons while he watched the movie on his Gamestation 3.

No offense to any of our Hong Kong members, I hope.

Dude, Hong Kong is in China. They don't allow the internet there.

Even if we don't take this review into account, and judging by what has been said all over the internet, it seems that FFXIII confirms that the good and sunny Square days are gone for good.

There will be more FF to come. Some will be better, some will be worse. But they will never be the same.

R.I.P. Final Fantasy series.

Didn't the head of Square-Enix say it was time for the Final Fantasy team to move onto other projects?

People shouldn't care about this kind of reviews, I'm pretty sure that FFXIII is a good game. not a 4/10 game.

I know that I'm going to hate it but that's only because of my tastes, I'm also sure that this game will get great scores when comes out in the rest of the world.

So ignore this shitty review please :P.

Modern Warfare 2, on the PC, was rated lower than Big Rigs, so take anything people say with a grain of salt.

lol joke review

the reviewer has played the game for 8 hours it says

How many samplings from a buffer does one have to do before saying "Enough" is enough?

I'm downloading FFVII to my PSP. Don't know why. I have the disc in my closet already. Just feels like something I need to do. This thread makes me want to play it again.

If every review that says a Final Fantasy game is disappointing makes you want to go out and buy and play Final Fantasy VII again, will you every move on to another game?
