So I've been thinking, since the PS Wand looks to be pretty darn similar to the Wii Mote, do you think it'd be an opportunity for third party developers to make games multiplatform on the PS3 and Wii ?

No.... I think they will find a way to make it playable on 360 too. Then again, I think PS3 mote games will mimic Wii games, as devs are beginning to learn what is working with the remote

Games like Red Steel 2 have a reasonable chance of going to the PS3 with Gem, assuming it takes off.

The control similarity (where obvious, allthough Gem is based on Eye Toy and the Wiimote) will not overcome the huge chasm between hardware specs so; no, I don't think we'll see them much at all.
