Final Fantasy never even should have lived to see the PS2. The series has been over for years. All they do now is button stale memes to an RPG and call it a Final Fantasy. I don't know why you would be sad to see that go.

I'm not trying to bait you, I'm serious.

I thought the motto of every Final Fantasy was"If it's not broke...fix it". Isn't that why we have a dozen fighting systems, storylines, etc. and the last three particularly are all on different ends of the spectrum? I mean really, how much in common are Final Fantasy X, XI and XII?

Ignore XI, as actually I think XII has a very similar battle system. IMO the systems really haven't changed that much. My experience is from playing FF X, X-2, XII and VII (soon VIII! hurry up and put it on the PSN!!!), and fundamentally, it is people taking turns, its just that in X-2 and VII, it is active, and in XII you can move around. XIII is not too dis-similar again

You don't want the exact same battle system, same with levelling up, you want to be able to discover a new system, as after 100 hours with 1, you are ready to master a new one.

Anyway, I want them to keep making Final Fantasy, and I certainly want a franchise with a nice turn based game, and I do agree that they should not change it too drastically. In fact, I would be very happy if instead of bring FF XV to this gen, they made Versus and then remade X, VII, VIII and IX in HD, that would be lovely

I agree, leave FF alone. It's fine.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

The formula isn't broken but it leaves an old stale flavor in my mouth. I would love to see what else they want to do with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the biggest fans of Final Fantasy, but I'm can kinda understand where they're coming from - as a business.

As a game, no, they're great - Final Fantasy is definitely not broken...

As an investement, on the other hand... they're getting more and more expensive and taking longer and longer to produce - there's no way they are going to be making anywhere near the return on investement that they made on final fantasy 7 thru 12 - and the more complex they get, the LESS money they will make on em.

It's not the greatest business plan, that's for sure...

I agree, the Final Fantasy a lot of us grew up with has been dead for years.

Hmmm.. I just think that old school JRPG and HD don't mix to well... what company will make 60+hours games in HD and sell it with a profit? it's getting to expansive.. FF might be the only one.. so do as you wish SE... go meet your doom.. when you make a FF with costs so high that you'll never recover it...
