Pachter is right about Wii needing more quality third party titles.
But as usual I get the "Wii is doomed" vibe from his statements. It also seemed like he was blaming Nintendo for what third parties are doing.
I LOVE ICELAND!

what i find funny is their definition of a "gamer". If a system is selling the most software, and breaking records for software sales, then how are the poeple on that system not "gamers"
are they not buying and playing games? what makes their taste in games inferior and not count.
its like calling a woman who reads only romance novels a non-reader, because she isn't reading the science fiction/fantasy, war or sports books. its just retarded. what makes certain games classified as "games" and other games to be "non-games". yes I can understand the concept of shovelware.
But Poeple shovelware is the QUALITY of the game, not the content. Who cares if there are 5 cheerleader games out there. Why don't you while your at it call all girls/boys int he world who love or even do cheerleading in real life losers or make fun of them. If the game plays good and isn't littered with bugs/glitches or other technical faults then it is a "GAME" It is not shovelware. Its a quality game that just doesn't suit your tastes.
"If the game plays good and isn't littered with bugs/glitches or other technical faults then it is a "GAME" It is not shovelware."
I also maintain that. It doesn't matter what some think of ports or party games, if they work, they are not shovelware. Ninjabread Man doesn't work, so it's shovelware (it's a port, but the original version was shovelware as well).
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Whats wrong with tons of shovelware? there must be like 10000000000 clothes stores around my shopping area and women love that shit.
The problem isn't shovelware, its a lack of quality games, there is no problem having 100000000 shitty games if you have 1000 amazing games.

It's just that the third parties don't get that they are supposed to make those 1000 amazing games, which means the games that are hits on the HD systems, not games that are "artsier" versions of those games.

I love the thread title. Lol.
As for what Pachter said in the article, is he nuts? Maybe he should check out this page: http://www.vgchartz.com/yearly.php?year=2009&console=&maker=&boxartz=1#
The Wii has moved over 100 million more pieces of software than the 360 in a shorter timeframe, and has a tie ratio higher than the PS3. If Wii owners "are not buying much more software," then what are PS3 owners doing?

Yes, it made me laugh too.
Without Malstrom and Pachter, gaming forums would be less amusing, although it must be said that usually Malstrom says more sensible things before derailing... Well, actually Pachters' brain train sometimes even manages to derail as soon as it leaves the station!
