Microsoft should found new studios, hire talented people, and try to get more of an identity.

MS has 88 positions open in MGS for Natal, XBL, XBLA, XNA, and 343 Industries.  The Natal and 343 Industries positions are for game development.

MS also purchased BigPark last year.  This studio is developing JoyRide and will most likely continue to develop transaction based games.

But with buying studios you also get IP along with them

You can't make a third party studio into a first party studio. The studio will keep making games that play and feel like they are third party. Especially if it keeps making the IP that it used to make.

Microsoft needs internal teams that can make games that people will instantly be able to recognize as an "Xbox game"

I LOVE ICELAND!

Huh? I don't get it. If Microsoft buys Epic then they get the Gears IP and a studio that is used to making exclusives

Games that really represent a console, and exclusive games are not the same thing.

So what you are saying is that Gears doesn't represent the console? Gears 2 was made specifically with the 360 in mind

I am unsure about Gears. I know that Halo is currently THE series that represents the Xboxes. It is very hard for console companies to get game series that feels unthinkable on other systems, MS was lucky they bought Bungie before they released Halo on Mac, or Halo would never have rocketed the Xbox.

Does Gears of War feel unthinkable on other systems the way Sonic felt unthinkable on non-Sega systems before Dreamcast died? I know there is a PC version of Gears 1.

What I'm saying is that MS needs games that will instantly feel like Xbox games, and it's better if MS creates their own studios to make these games rather than to buy third party studios that make games that feel like you can have the same experience elsewhere.

But what you forget is that Halo, and Halo 2 are on the PC, and that Halo eventually did make it's wat to the Mac. Gears feels just as unthinkable on other platforms. Maybe not as much as Halo, but nothing does!

There are PC versions of Halo 1/2 as well.

Gears of War exclusively on a Microsoft system.

Where's your problem ?

They have tripled the sales of the original xbox jpn sales with the 360.. I think they done well but next gen they best try harder!
