Ridiculous numbers.
I am glad that almost everyone here seems to call BS on this survey.

So... are they trying to tell me that 1 in 5 households in the US have a PC that's used specifically for gaming, and no consoles at all? Then why do sales of most PC games, well... suck? I call BS on Neilsen's figures from this alone. |
The vast majority of time spent gaming is done on PC games, mostly free flash games, but WoW helps boost the numbers too.

I wasnt aware that PSPgo can take pictures?
I actually "agree" that the data maybe correct. The reason being is that my daughter who is a casual gamer mind you asked for the lilac psp bundle because she loves Hannah Montana and she wanted to get the new rock band game. Mind you she also has cousins that have both the wii and the ds; this was odd to me as well. Most of the younger females in my family have either a psp or a DS so it may be because of that bundled that sparked the interest in the PSP. Most of them also play a ton of those petz games as well (which the psp seems to have a ton of).

Furthermore, I know several people who work at Nielsen, and none of them are particularly bright. This study just doesn't align with common sense. |
Ha, I laughed at that bit.
I'll bet this data is incorrect, they probably mixed it up with the DS. They've made similar mistakes before.
I mean come on, 52%? The majority of PSP's out in the wild are owned by females? I don't believe it.
I think you may be reading too much into the word "specifically". I think that's only there because a PC is generally not a gaming product while a console is, so they mark that box if they 'specifically' game on it.
