Forums - Nintendo Discussion - capcom not happy with darkside chronicles sales, mh3 + hardcore games talk

I didn’t buy this title because Umbrella Chronicles just wasn’t my cup of tea. And to be fair I thought it was a stupid decision on Capcom’s part. Why create a game like Darkside Chronicles when fans of Resident Evil on the Wii are clamouring for a fully fledged title? If they had remade RE2 for example I’m sure it would have sold a much higher number than DSC - if Capcom can’t see that… well there’s something wrong.

Buy the REmake and RE0 Achives games if you want full titles.  People keep talking of RE4 yet ignoring these two.

Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 are the exact same games that appeared on GC. How can you possibly compare what I said to 2 direct ports of GameCube titles. Lets not forget a lot of core gamers who own Wiis probably already own both those titles on GameCube. It doesn't take a genius to figure out these people probably still have GC controllers/memory cards and can therefore have almost the exact same experience on Wii without buying these titles. Plus you have to remember Resident Evil 4 was released with some improvements - most notably the pointer functionality and at a time when there were few decent titles.

Back in 2007 Capcom could be forgiven for being taken off guard by the Wii (therefore rushing out a port) but now? I just don't get it. Frankly I think Capcom only have themselves to blame. This is what Nintendo RE fans have had since Wii: a modified port, a spin off on-rails shooter, a direct port, a second direct port and just to kick fans in the teeth a second spin off on-rail shooter!

I really thought after Umbrella Chronicles Capcom would remake RE2 in a similar fashion to the original titles - I just don't get why they didnt. And as someone who owns RE5 for PS3 I can honestly say I don't want  a watered down version on Wii - just a genuine RE experience created for the console. I can only guess Capcom thought they could get away with cheap content and it's finally backfired.

It seems, all the good points are not getting argued... that means people are simply trying to look for the bad side. Like Capcom.

I wanted to make a comment about how these guys are playing right into the hands of disruption, but then I saw that this was the president of Capcom...France? Who gives a crap? Tell me when the actual president of Capcom or Sega has something to say about Wii instead of these lackeys.

seriously a lot of guys here reply not even figuring this is just capcom france. i guess its in the interest of the poster not to make that fact clear.

Ah, a third party dev moaning about their Wii game sales.
Soon we will have atleast one moaning every day.

How about - stop moaning about a SPINOFF game sales, which is also a RAIL SHOOTER, a OVERSATURATED genre on the wii, and give us actually something that is worth our money.

I agree. The core gamers on Wii have moved on to HD where all the Core games are. They may have a Wii but they'll buy NSMBW over RE:DC for Wii. Why wouldn't they? They have RE5.

I do believe '09 will be the death of 'core' games on Wii. None have sold impressive numbers and it's just easier for publishers to focus on the core market on HD where their core games sell rather than try to adapt them to a relatively unknown expanded audience on Wii.

To create mass success on Wii will require a radically new way of thinking for most publishers and developers. I just hope some are up to the challenge, because HD development is a losing game.

completely agree with you gamerace, death of core games by third parties will die, and nintendo loyalists may be right to mention that third parties didn't even try, but they knew that their console wouldn't be getting third party titles as shown by the last 2 gens (n64, gc), yet they still bought a wii, and once the wii took the world by storm, they demand every title to be on their console. Won't happen, live with it, buy another console. Wii60 FTW.

Well deserved Capcom, I'm really happy about this :)

HD Market is flooded with FPS games yet they manage to keep selling fine.

This "Too many rail shooters" excuse does not cut it.

Maybe wii owners wants to be flooded with FPS games and not On-rails?

-Edit-

And I agree with Lolcislaw. FPS games are much more popular and appeal to more players. Bad comparison

Should have bought The COnduit then.  Even Haze managed 800k despite HD consoles flooded with more FPS games than Wii is with rail shooters.

Hmmm... really? I thought some didn't...

Ok... unknown brands, right? The Conduit isn't? Ok... let's move on to others better known... some still don't sell.

Then we have new experiences and brands. Some better than others... But do they all sell? Hmm... don't think so...

But go ahead, Capcom... HD twins are a safe choice. This proves it!!

Now leaving sarcasm aside: Capcom, if you want a title to sell, give their userbase what they want. And I think what any wants is games. Not an experiment to see if it works, not a bloody "hardocorezzzz" games, not a try out. We want games. It's easier than you think!

Ohh, BTW, I'm sad about this title. It deserves much less sales than ot has.

@Dazkarieh
You sir... you are a real monster. I will use your post everytime I see a troll complaining about The Conduit sales.

I lost my words, really.
