No but this thread is certainly not good news because its coming from someone who doesn't own any particular PS3 game so obviously this thread is useless, moving on...

I can already see the next ones : "Ok now Sony is profitable, but PS3 still needs a power plug to work, what a failure". Or : "PS3 sucks since online functionalities don't work when you're offline". |

It went from "Ps3 has no games" to "Ps3 is selling low" to "ps3 is down YOY" to "Ps3 slim effect is short term", now you dont see this being used these days dont you? now all they do os nitpick sumthing negative just to help them sleep at night. |
Ok... FINE.
The PS3 has no games with transexual characters, its selling low compared to the Wii its down half decade over half decade and the PS3 slim effect is short term.
Tease.

What I love of this kind of threads is the funny comments they can produce...

Meh, you're trying too hard.
The drop of course is much larger, but the big reason altogether that Final Fantasy XIII won't sell as well is that the PS3 doesn't have the same user-base the PS2 had. If you look at it that way, the numbers coming in for Final Fantasy XIII are really good.
As I understand it Legend was pointing out that on the whole FFXIII is tracking several hundred thousand units behind previous installments.
He did not imply it was an abnormal percentage drop...

First sentance of OP: "I was just looking at the second week numbers for FF13 and was surprised at its drop."
It seems to me that he was implying that.
FF13's drop was expected.
People were largely mistaken...
Either that or they expect it their to be a giant FF13 boost when GT5 comes out. Thinking it will motivate both a Japanese Boost and a FF13 boost. (not too likely, but hey maybe.)
I think he means that every success the Ps3 has comes with an equal sacrifice.
Example. The PS3 Slim was selling like hot cakes and is still keeping good sales even after the sales died down a little. However, every PS3 sold is at a loss. Sony then relies on their software royalties for profit, not the sales of the console. This has been discussed in another thread where Kaz Hirai stated it.
Now, Sony has pushed out some great games this year, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Demons Souls etc. however these games don't sell huge numbers which are needed for profit, so the losses grow.
Just little things like that. I wouldn't say that all good news is followed by bad news, but I will say that Sony is putting alot on the line and sacrificing alot to try and succeed.
I am not going to argue with you. It will simply be a waste of my time, and yours.
