Forums - Gaming Discussion - FF7 remake on 360?

Ok But this is wrong ?:

The first right of refusal in this deal means that SONY CAN and will most likely REFUSE any title bearing the Final Fantasy VII name to be published on another platform in North America. While not mentioned here, SONY usually secures that kind of publishing rights for a period equal or superior to 25 years.

"It is by no mean impossible for FFVII to be released on another platform in North America, but SE would have to face 2 hurdles in this case.

1- SONY secured rights on FFVII
2- SONY having voting shares in SE

The first one is enough to keep it exclusive in North America."

Its not impossible but hard or is this just wrong what he said ?

That IS what the right of first refusal means. But you have to ask how far that right extends: from what I read here, it only means they have that right over the original game. It says nothing about going any further than that.

OMG. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN! Sony has the publishing rights to FFVII and anything FFVII related. I know 360 fans would love to see more M$ moneyhatting , but unless Sony sells those rights, there is absolutely nothing M$ can do.

Damage Control anyone....sony does not own the publishing rights to FFVII since they do not own the IP...only time a publisher owns the rights is when they own the IP for example EA owns Systemshock. You do know that Eidos also published the game.

If you want evidence....Cloud appeared in Kingdom Hearts for the GBAhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII http://psx.ign.com/objects/000/000494.html Sony Published it, so it's not going to 360. I am willing to place a nice bet with you on that too. If an FFVII remake goes on 360 in any way shape or form (not spinoff, but main game), I will place a massive sig that says "I LOVE XBOX360 MORE THAN SONY PLAYSTATION 1,2 AND 3 COMBINED". even though I've hated the system since Bill Gates decided to make it so.

That still doesn't prove your case enough.

All we can do at this point is wait.

I am not sure if the remake even exists, but Square Enix can publish this game outside of sony playstation. If that happens it has to remain to be seen, but it has happened on the PC with Eidos.

It's all speculation based on Nomura's announcement of a widely requested title, which is most likely Kingdom Hearts 3, or an FFVII remake.

I would laugh if it would end up being a Chrono Trigger remake (if by widely requested he probably meant only japan lol), that would definitely throw everyone off. Even better if they released it on the DS. That would be a big f.... you from SE to the HD twins.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Is seems just to be speculation. The link he provided didn't come with any proof of what he was saying

Right of first refusal doesn't mean they get to choose the platform, either.

"Hey SONY, do you want to publish FF7 on XBLA for us?"

"What? No!"

"Well all right then I suppose we'll do it ourselves"

And truth be told I would imagine Kitase hyping FFVII...so I bet it is Kingdom Hearts 3 or The world ends with you 2.

Demand for TWEWY (lol) is nowhere near as big an FFVII remake, or Kingdom Hearts 3. But given this is a remake, I don't think it would require Kitase's full involvement.

Honestly speaking I would die laughing if it wasn't on the HD Twins, but I doubt it is CT remake (due to the fact that released a port not so long ago)...maybe CT Sequel.

Although it would be kind of expected, I'm still going to laugh so hard if it was KH3 on the Nintendo Wii.

Actually, from what I understand it does mean that: the publisher has the right to determine what platform a game goes to. That's why Bungie remains a 360-exclusive publisher, despite Microsoft only having a right of first refusal over them. It's also why Bayonetta wound up getting ported to the PS3, despite its developers' complete indifference to the project (Sega simply ported the game itself).

@noname2200

He said : "any titel bearing FFVII in his name" thats what I want to know is this sentence right or wrong. Because this decides everything or they release it under another name.

I know what the right of refusal is but is it a right just for the Playstation Line or for the name FFVII ?

Ah, I see. Nevermind me, then
