Forums - Sony Discussion - I just cancelled FF XIII

Letting your decissions beeing totally influenced by others ? (some review..?!) it's almost tragic honestly.

I say if it is a game from a genre you love or might appeal to you, not to mention a high production like FinalFantasy games usually are, it certainly warrants the risk of purchasing it and judging the game by yourSELF.

I wouldn't be too upset with the gambit system (assuming they're using something like that) as long as they don't make us buy the damn gambits or at least give us access to useful ones in the first half of the game.

Well you do have to wait a little bit for all the paradigm shifts, and for the battle system to come in to its own.... But I did only really get great gambits in place near the end of FF XII, and then my party was just unstoppable

Anyway, this really is an odd decision. If they are making it more real time, then how are you going to control 3 characters at once? If you want properly turn based, then play LO. The battle system is more akin to FF VII, but instead of doing just one move, you do 3 or 4. And there is levelling up, it is the same as in FF X

Wow if I based my game buying decisions on reviews I'd have like 8 games. Good thing I value my opinion over some dude writing a review.

Actually you would have more than that lol this gen ALOT of games got high scores...well as far as HD goes because the award to the most low rated games seems to have gone to Wii.

I don't pay attention to reviews, I want to experience the game myself.

Just to remind everyone I will still be renting FF XIII, even if WKC is like FF XII it will be bearable, In FF XIII not being able to choose your character for most of the game is a really bad thing to do, IMO, SE needs to learn it can't get away with these kinds of decisions, gimping the FF series should not be accepted in any way.

i do not know what the problem with what they did is. i found it that it worked well and they wanted you to be involved with the story and not want this character. SE did a great job with ff13 and you are truely judging a game before even playing it.

well trust me if you are happy with that then I am happy for you and all people that love the changes made, but for people like me who love the original JRPG experience more then it's just a huge dissapointment, even if it was more like FFX battle wise it would improve this game lots IMO, oh well, I guess FFXIIvs will be my next FF game.

Lets put it this way,

Good:

Graphics

Story

Bad:

Can only control one character per battle

No leveling up system

Cannot buy items

First couple hours are straight linear

The way it should be.  They get better as the game goes on.  Wouldn't expect all the great weapons or armour given to you early, why would gambits be like that also?

Well... before the last few bosses, I basically just had heal and attack, I would have to manually switch to those characters to do their specialer moves
