Forums - Sony Discussion - Why no games on demand on PS3?

Games are too big. The majority of PS3 owners wouldn't be able to fit very many full downloaded games on the hard drive, so pretty much nobody would use it.

Mainland Europeans pay $80 for a new game without complaining.

$100 including taxes and yes I do complain.

But thx to your kind country, I get them for ~$60 =D

I thought European law said that taxes had to be included in the price?

Apparently, £40 is $63, so the UK is pretty reasonable. But then £250 is $400.

yep.

$80 excluding taxes and $100 including taxes.

Something wrong with that ?

Because games that utilise bluray are simply too large to download.

really so all those multiplat games that are on the 360 as well are too big to download?

Assassins Creed, Bioshock and Oblivion etc.. average 6gb.

Although me personally rather enjoy the layout of PSN as it is. PSN has their Ratchet and Clank, Burout, Wipeout and GT5:P etc.

The ps3 has a 120GB HDD..

the 360 has a 120GB HDD

there is no reason why games on demand shouldn't be on psn.

Some PS3 games are much bigger than their 360 counterparts despite having the exact same content.  Strange, but true.

I dont care.. i like it as it is. Even more so when i can find retail copies for less than Games on Demand prices. But size is not the problem.. i just dont think the demand for it is all that great. A nice feature and all.. but not that many actually uses it.

Compressed vs uncompressed.

Not strange, just true.

$80?

$86,- (€60,-) when buying a new game in a local store. Some games are up to $95,-

In Ireland, most games are "only" €45 new releases. Uncharted 2 was €44.99 in HMV and went down to €42.99 after about 3 weeks. The only game I've seen launch at over €44.99 recently (in HMV) was Modern Warfare 2 which launched for €49.99.

here is how sony sees it "the good games wont be able to go on demand because there like 20gigs -50gigs in size." so good luck with thattttt.

they might add it for older ps3 games but it would probably be a premium feature
