If you don't want to buy an FPS, don't buy it. If it's a good FPS, buy it. Regardless of the genre, a good game is a good game. If you don't like FPS, don't buy the game.

Maybe to you but you can boot them side to side I won't know which is which... Add the new MOH to that mix. |

Just looking at the videos for these games...I can already tell what they play like...lol |
I'm with MAG and BC2 =D
I know for sure MAG would be a tactical and very cooperative game.
And from exhaustively playing Bad Company 2, I can say the same.
It's like an MMO. The fun isn't the actual shooting, just like how it isn't the actual tapping of buttons, sword swings, and spell casts that are fun.
It's the tactics and infinite amount of human creativity you can have with the game, and the presence of friends and any social people (people who actually speak with mics) that make the experience fun and unique every time.
I hooked up with KylieDog whenever he's on. When he's not on, I'll have awful times because I feel like it's just run and gun. But when I finally meet someone with a mic, we just have a blast.
It's a blast when there are people glitching with the medkit spam, and KylieDog C4s them to get 5-7 kills.
It's a blast when me and another guy are cursing at how we're under heavy fire, and I yell "Follow me!" and we run through the smoke and bullets up the hill.
It's a blast when one of my squadmates gets killed, and tells me to avenge him, and laughs in delight when I do so.
It's a blast when there's an enemy behind a wall, and I'm told to take it out, and we just see a squad exposed to us and mow them down like mafia members.
It's a blast when I see our entire left flank just being dessimated and littered with revive symbols, and we're rushing over to intercept the wave of enemies.
Bad Company 2 is unique in that it has a lot more variations of threats and needs, and that you need squadmates to meet them. You need medics, you need engineers, you need assaults, you need snipers.
It's bad when you have a team that just act on their own, and pick the same classes and don't cooperate in taking out a tank or going the other way.
But when you have a squad, it's like you have a blindfold lifted from you. You're able to see the situation clearly, what needs to be done, and how to do it.
Bad Company 2 is a game that you can't "Know how it plays", by just watching game play videos.

If we want to get real technical, you said every week for the past month. Those two links are a month apart, and the content of each thread still has some differences. Either way, I don't see the big deal. Does it bother you personally that people are getting tired of a saturated genre? |
Sure, I'd argue the same thing for the music genre. Nobody's forcing you to buy them, why not just ignore them and go buy the games you do like? It's not like there aren't great games coming up in all genres (including FPS). Anything I think is generic, I just stay away from, and there are plenty of FPS that don't fit that description imo.
Personally I havn't been excited about a FPS since UT2004. Still buy the odd one and enjoy them but I find there's way too many out nowadays.

Why exactly are you going to buy Killzone 2 if you have enough FPS already ? I must say through that I'm bored with the genre totally over they years i went from doing counter strike 8 hours per day to the point when i can't even finish Bioshock (which i got for 5$ promo on Steam).

Only for one thing, the graphics. I need to see what all the fuss is about.
I will get drill for saying this but I blame this on the PS3. When you purchase the 360 you know what you are getting, a LOT of shooters (AKA shooter box). But when the PS3 release the same amount of 1st party exclusive FPS shooters with the 360 then we have a problem. KillZone 2 is the last shooter I'm getting for the PS3.
Nope. Still my favorite genre mostly because I don't get to game as much. I can pick up an fps for an hour and come back to it later. Working 60 hours a week blows.
Hell no! FPS is now my fave genre next to action/adventure
No, because I rarely buy them. In this generation I have 1 FPS (2 if you count Metroid, which it isn't) across 52 total games.
However, I do wish developers would cut back on the numbers and instead invest time in more varied types of games.
