Sure, I'd argue the same thing for the music genre. Nobody's forcing you to buy them, why not just ignore them and go buy the games you do like? It's not like there aren't great games coming up in all genres (including FPS). Anything I think is generic, I just stay away from, and there are plenty of FPS that don't fit that description imo.
