Forums - Sales - PS3's About To Set Anoter Record 10m YTD! Wait We Still Have 3 Weeks Left!

PS3 making a lot of history lately.

Can see it breaking plenty more records in the near future too.

12-12.5 million seems about right maybe a little higher though. Actually there is 4 weeks left considering we don't have sales data in for last week yet.

As for next year Sony definitely has the exclusives to keep PS3 up but this will be the first time the slim will be on the market for an extensive amount of time outside of special holidays and extensive software releases. We'll see if it survives. As for 15 million, I can't rule it out and seems somewhat plausible although I wouldn't say it is guaranteed in the least bit.

if it can 12m this year then it could do 15m next year with likes of GT5,GOW3,Heavy rain,WNC,Modnation racers,FF14,SO4,etc

thats awesome if it can do 15m next year and if the 360 manages to sell its usual 8-11m that it has been doing for the past 2 years then that would put the gap to about less than a mill

i agree 15m+ for ps3 next year

how the hell is that happening?

GT5, FFXIII, & GOWIII might just provide a partial reason for that possibilty.

Wow if it can do that we are getting to PS1 level yearly sales!

I thought it was already near that? Isn't it selling faster than the PS1?

it is but it was in this year (if you align Ps1 & PS3 launches) that PS1 shipped like 20 Million

so PS3 will be selling slower than it this year (20 million aint happening for Ps3)

wow, i never thought in March time that they would ever hit 13million in 1 year,
15 million for next!
NO 3093million for 2010! lol

Funny thing is that almost everyone in here said that there was no way they'd meet their projection for march 2010. Seems like they will actually overshoot by a fair amount (more than a million). Good news!

Reminds me of the pre-launch week(s) for the Slim.

I know. Guess it just shows that even people who are real gamers and don't own a PS3 and have heaps of e-insight can be wrong...

PSP Go is about to set a record for yearly sales of the PSP Go as well.

Wait, I thought Sony outsold Xbox 360 world wide in the 08 year....perhaps I just read some fanboy post from somebody else. Where can I go to check accurate data for that year?

There's this site called VGChartz, not sure if you've heard of it.

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 06th Jan 2008 to 27th Dec 2008:

Console PS3 X360
Total

So far this fiscal year: 7.25 million.

They've probably shipped a little more than that.

So yes, it seems on track. The projection might still have been a little high, actually.
