I'm fine with 2012, there's still a lot of great games coming and allready on the consoles which I really want to play before getting a new console. Hopefully next gen consoles are more affordable too.

This gen needs to stay as is. Theres no need for another graphical overhaul until some really impressive technology shows itself. We're fine the way we are and this gen has only begun to take off.

I dunno, maybe it's because I got my Xbox in the first year of release, because to me it seems like the gen is about midpoint already.  I still say Fall 2012 should be next gen.

The 360 hasn't even begun to show what it can do. The PS3 has already shown us but it still has a lot left in the tank. The 360 will have an eleven year lifespan and the PS3 will have a ten year lifespan so I think that is healthy. We don't really need to shift gears until newer technology comes out. Companies like Sony depend on rehashing their own hardware and bending the gaming and movie market around it. We need to make sure the playing field is leveled for Nintendo and Microsoft as well.

as alte as posssible, 2013-2014 maybe

If it were to even come out in a few years, I will most likely wait untill 2012? because I've only had my console for around 2 years which is not very long.

WAY LATER like 2014

im enjoying this gen, so i hope its later. With firmwares being released often and the new motion controls coming soon, this gen should last quite abit longer.

The sooner the better I say. The current consoles really struggle pushing anything above 720p and often skimp on AA they also have issues with screen tearing. Simply put these GPU's are quite dated and it shows. The Wii obviously would also benefit from enhanced visuals. Also the next consoles will incorporate motion from the start, not as a tacked on feature which will likely never gain enough penetration to be relied on by devs.

2011 would be awesome. Though I expect they will try to milk it until 2012 at the very least.

2014-15 is the "earliest" I would want the next gen to start; like alot of you guys I am really enjoying this generation of consoles. If anything I would like the next gen of handhelds to start next year (would love to see some HD gaming on the hand helds). Though the PsP has the best graphics on a hand held (currently), there will always be room for improvements.

There's much more to factor in than just system capabilities.  Such as marketshare and where a company thinks their position will be next gen.

Microsoft started this gen early with the XBOX360.  What's so say they won't try the same trick now that Sony is closing the gap on their lead?  Or what's to say Sony won't try to come out with a new system first because they've been in last place for so long.  And of course, let's not forget the wildcard in all of this, Nintendo.  They've been making many 'quiet' rumors through interviews, including such statements as making light of them not wanting to come out 'second' next gen and wanting to be more 'graphics heavy' next gen.  What's to say Nintendo isn't in development of a system focused more on graphics and trying to release it before the competition?  With Nintendo's current marketshare and new fanbase they've created, bringing out as console first could just create a torrent of support for them next gen.
