Not really... I have the general idea, but not much more than that. Something about the gods killing his family and pissing him off and so he kills them. Didn't seem real deep... |
Jesus man, not everything has to be deep. It's a simple story about a man becoming into a monster (a god of war), and not being able to escape from the cycle of revenge and killing (erasing his memories and sins).
Overall, it's just about a man that cannot let go. This is symbolized by all the things that are literally a part of his body (ashes of his family, the blades that are CHAINED to him).
I hope there's a two optional endings. One is where Kratos finally lets go of his rage, and accepts his pasts and sins instead of rejecting them and blaming them on somebody else (Ares, fate, Zeus, Olympus, etc). Once he does that, he is able to leave the battlefield and war. And symbolically he will have all his burdens released (chains and ashes).
If he decides to not accept his past and continue his rage, he will continue fighting the war his wife dissaproved, and destroy everything, only not being able to satisfy anything. He may either rule as the god of war and torment mankind, or commit suicide when he finally blames himself for everything.
