Forums - Nintendo - Game Informer Reviews Chrystal Chronicles:The Crystal Bearers (5.5)

Now when this bombs, are we going to get an article on how Wii is to blame for this games' low sales? Even though a game with scores this low on other platforms would be shunned just as badly by consumers?

Hell didnt famitsu score this game low too? And I've read numerous comments about how this game proves third party games just cant sell. LoL, unreal.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Famitsu gave this game a 30/40 I believe. That is a 75%. As for "reviews" being bad, we shall wait for a few more and see.

Oh, I thought it was lower than that like 7/6/7/6. My main point was just that many Wii haters like to have it both ways. First point out a sucky game then second act as if the said sucky game should sell. Not sayin CC is sucky. Was just making an observation.

Spirit Tracks an 8...? Wow.

Yeah. Between that, Shattered Memories, and FFCC, Game Informer is really running themselves into the ground in this issue alone. Sad, but not unexpected.

Well, 8 isn't that bad, come on. A huge number of reviewers have given Spirit Tracks a flat 8 for not changing the formula enough.

Ii mean, yes, it's much, much better than a game that most of them rated higher, but that isn't really the issue

Maybe Crystal Chronicles just isn't that fancy-pancy?

So FPS games on HD systems don't change much if anything and they get 9s and higher. But Nintendo does the same with Zelda and it gets an 8.

Interesting that the GI review is not posted anywhere -- no review score the game is on Metacritic or Gamerankings.

Also @Ghutto and @SaviorX -- What negative news has been coming out about this game?

The realization that it isn't an FFXIII port or a Final Fantasy game for that matter, is it.  I've seen people arguing over the length, but if they played any other Crystal Chroncile game they would know very well how it fits in. Mostly it is people angry that it isn't the "super-customizable final fantasy uber rpg" that they wanted.

Well this has convinced me. When more reviews fly in upon the games release we can all expect scores from about 5 - 8 , maybe a few 9's and above but not many. Ultimately though, it'll end in the mid 70's on Metacritic/Gamerankings. Maybe even low 70's if this game is (probably will) unlucky enough to get the one douchebag who'll give it a 2 - 4, just like how Muramasa got a 30/100 from GameCritics, boy was that one hell of a review. God only knows how it's going to sell when it's released here, but i think we can all say it wont pull breathtaking numbers, then people will dump it in the list of "Wii games that bombed" and use it as an excuse that third party games just dont sell on Wii. The cycle continues...

Meanwhile, i'll be buying this game as soon as i can since it looks awesome. Maybe not day one but its high on my list of early 2010 games to get, including Bayonetta, Blazblue, possibly Final Fantasy 13 and hopefully Infinite Space. Game Informer can suck it.

How technical is your game?

So the game is crap then. I guess there won't be any need for damage control when it bombs.

There's a reason why Square-Enix said that selling this game on the Wii won't be easy.

Do not forget to add that they picked a group of American High School Students to make the Crystal Bear's commercial. That thing was amateurish and awful. The singer was singing while the characters were talking, sensory overload anyone.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

I was pretty shocked when I read that.. but its GameInformer and all the Wii/DS games have lower scores than they would elsewhere. Its already been stated in this thread, but Spirit Tracks deserved a much better than 8 score... NSMBWii had something like 9.25 and has scored much better on other sites and magazines.

Crystal Bearers may very well suck but I probably won't cancel my pre-order.. if it really is a collection of mini-games masqueraded as an Action RPG, however, it deserves to bomb.

6.5 for Modern Warfare Reflex eh? I just find it odd at how Reviewers have a love it/hate it relationship with a lot of recent Wii games. Like others said, it's almost like different reviewers are playing different games (Reflex is praised on some sites and taken apart in others. But I suppose that they are different people with different expectations).

Ah well, *shrugs* I wasn't planning on buying Final Fantasy anyways. Shattered Memories, on the other hand...
