Forums - Nintendo - Matt Casamassina: Nintendo is Lazy!

If Matt hates Nintendo this much... who does he actually like? And why?

And was this a personal blog type thing, or is he acting as the voice of IGN when he says this horribly misinformed intentionally trolling stuff?

His words are like daggers into my sensitive Nintenheart.

He likes Uncharted 2.

But then again, what would I know? I mean, I bought and actually enjoyed Sonic & the Black Knight, so you may want to leave me out of this conversation.

I wouldn't say Nintendo have been lazy. I'd say the third parties that could have filled the void this year have been lazy.

Nintendo made a mistake with Wii Music and Animal Crossing, failing to satisfy both their existing userbase and the market in general. Unlike previous big Wii releases, they didn't satisfy Wii owners or give a long term boost to sales. As a result of that, the lack of any big Nintendo titles (although Punch Out is fantastic) until Sports Resort, and then till Wii Fit Plus and NSMB Wii has made Nintendo look lazy. Their output on Wii over the last 18 months hasn't been brilliant in terms of quantity, but next year the situation looks to improve, and I can't wait for that.

Surely Matt has some idea of how good the Wii's first party and third party line up looks for 2010? It'll only get better as the year goes on. We might not have Galaxy 2, Other M, Monado or Zelda Wii in the here and now, but they are coming.

Nintendo fans are blinded by Nintendo's laziness. All the real gamers grew out of Nintendo since they are kiddy and don't feed your story/graphics/audio needs. Oh, and the Wii doesn't even play DVDs.

My wife took a picture of me in my Mario hat and made it my avatar on Twitter. Would you feel I was riffing on you if I used it as my VGChartz avatar?

In a celebration of developer laziness, you see

go right ahead. I will be replacing my avatar with my new son wearing the hat and holding a Wii Remote. I just need him to get old enough to actually stay awake for more than 2 minutes and not want to eat

Jesus, that's like what my father did. He put an NES pad in my hands for a picture when I was six weeks old.

It's how Nintendo managed to survive all these years. Brainwashing. It's also how they manage to be so lazy

Stop you both, evil bodysnatched Nintendo minions, you're scaring me!!!

If Nintendo's lazy then what does that make the competition? Clinically dead?

One can only wish to be as 'lazy' as Nintendo in their lifetime. Matt you so crazy!

Things that need to die in 2016: Defeatist attitudes of Nintendo fans

One thing in reading this thread -- I cannot understand why some people own a Wii if they do not like the offerings for the system so much that they have to continually and repeatedly make derogatory statements regarding the console, the games, and Nintendo.

If we were talking sequels to FPS, everyone would be saying how wonderful it was, even though you might be playing the only playable character and shooting the same enemies for the third time. Or you might be trying stealthy win a future war against the same enemies and bosses for the fourth time. Mike from MorgantownOr if this were an open world game, you might be playing another derivative low-life person on an amoral life of crime for the fifth time.

Nintendo's revolution promised a lot.  Newbies are awestruck and others are left wanting.  There is no reason there isn't a great rts, fps, 3rd person action game and so many more that haven't been on other consoles.  Any concept that they have done that is cool is rather limited to many jaded gamers.  They also add on to the Wii series with WF+ and WS:resort and rumors of WMu+ while the otaku are left to fix their Nintendo games to expand them and flesh them out (SSBB+).

I understand that Nintendo is a business and obligated to make as much profit from it's ventures as possible and that core games are more expensive to make. However when we have a market where two players are loosing money to cater to our whims it's not unbelievable that they want more than they are getting from nintendo. Thus the negative attitude.  They are making it rather clear who they believe are larger portions of the bottom line and have moved on. I just wish most of us jaded gamers would move on too Its not like we wont get Motion controlled games that re more along our values in a few months to a year.

I think Malstrom summed up this article nicely: Matt Cassamassina has made a habit of behaving like a spoiled child for quite some time now. I'm not sure why anybody still takes his articles to have any value. The only person who's done more to tarnish their ethos in the gaming journalism "industry" is Michael Pachter.

Wow, Matt is such a huge Nintendo fanboy at IGN, such a fanboy that any time I heard him in any podcast I just felt like turning it off, but for him to say what he said in this article...just wow, looks like he's opened his eyes to the reality and is starting to get the shits with the company he loves.

Methinks you have this man confused with somebody anybody else.

...What is this? I can't stop watching.

I don't remember when/where I found it, but when I realized I'd let it loop a dozen times...*saved for appropriate occasion*
