I agree that community blogs might be a little bit too much. It would probably detract from the forums.
There is a place for editorial content, though. But you've got people for that; they just seem to not be writing anything. Or maybe I just don't notice it mixed in with the news. It would be nice to have news and editorials CLEARLY seperated, something most gaming sites don't begin to bother doing.
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
I think that considering that many threads are kind of like mini blogs (at least the first post) that it would be nice if there was a way to look at a member's account and see what threads they have created. I understand that there is a thread history, but this would be a focused search just for the threads created by that user. That in itself would be kind of like a blog, wouldn't it?

That does actually bring up the I would like a better way to see a persons post history. Sometimes I want to go back and find previous posts that I made but it can be a little difficult if I can't remember the title of the thread.
You don't have enough moderators for a community blog.
It seems the mods need help with this forum. I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

I say no. It effectively competes with posts on the main forum - and instead of people having to properly think about issues, and respond to others - everyone runs off to their own little corner, to blab about whatever they want.
People can effectively do this at the moment through the forum (off-topic, or other) - its just more open, and more accountable.
I also personally think the focus has already shifted away from the "main forum threads" a little too much (maybe this is the intention?), and that blogs will extend this further?
