I see we have a lot of newer zombie movie fans here. I suggest you give some of the older movies a try you might like them. I really enjoed the first half of 28 Days Later it was great. All 3 of the Resident Evil movies are really fun to watch.

Meh, just because something is a classic doesn't mean it's the best.

Newer zombie movies have trumped the older ones in most every way.

Yeah, it's not like old Hitchcock where the villains were creepy and methodical, which lent itself to the slower pace of old horror movies. Old zombies were slow, handicapped, and dumb. On top of that, almost all the movies were B-grade schlock that wasn't very good to begin with. Not a recipe for success, though there are a few older zombie movies I don't mind.

It's not often you will see me preaching how modern Hollywood has improved upon the old but this is one of those few cases.

zombies were slow because the film sub-genre hadn't developed beyond logic, which you really have to do in order to make a movie. They hadn't gotten beyond the "zombies just got out of rigor mortis" idea, when they could be part of a mob running up to feast on ya

It's not that they were slow, I'm fine with slow zombies, it's just they weren't threatening.  There is literally one scene where the heroes casually bump a zombie out of the way.

A zombie you can just casually bump out of the way isn't threatening and ruins the movie because you have to sit there and think if they are that non-threatening, how did the zombie apocolypse happen?

Not really zombies though, which is why I feel America had ruined 28 weeks later by making them more zombie like.

classic examlpe..... the helicopter scene when the blade chops half of that "rage infected persons" torso out yet he is still walking...... like a zombie... there people that die like normal people , you don't have to shoot them in the head or any of that bull.

Zombies aren't supposed to be fast. You're not supposed to fear 1, 2, 3, or even 10 zombies. You're supposed to fear 6 billion zombies. The whole world gets zombified and there's nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. It's a giant mass, a blob, a moving wall of zombies that need your flesh. That's the whole point of the zombie apocalypse anyway. Or, in many of the best zombie films, you aren't even supposed to fear the zombies. You're supposed to fear the other humans, who are either going totally insane in their panic and fear, or are totally evil and want to use the chaos to take control and do some crazy stuff. That's what makes zombie movies different from, and sooooooooo much better than regular monster movies.

With that said:

1. Dawn of the Dead (original)
2. Night of the Living Dead
3. Dawn of the Dead (remake)
4. Night of the Comet
5. 28 Days Later
6. Zombieland
7. Shaun of the Dead
8. Thriller
9. Dead-Alive
10. Versus

I'm SHOCKED that some of you could only list 2 or 5 or so... and forgot about Thriller.

And has anybody else even seen Night of the Comet? I'd just assume anybody who's seen it would be madly in love with it like I am. The comet that killed the dinosaurs comes back, and kills 99% of the human race. The other 1% are either zombies or a group of 80's teenagers trying to party and survive.

Only have 6.

6) Land of the Dead
5) Resident Evil
4) 28 Weeks Later
3) I am Legend
2) [REC]
1) 28 Days Later

I can't really think of 10 but Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland would be on my list somewhere.

1. Zombieland
2. Zombieland
3. Zombieland
4. Zombieland
5. Zombieland
6. Zombieland
7. Zombieland
8. Zombieland
9. Zombieland
10. Zombieland

Zombieland was that awesome.
