Forums - Nintendo - Aonuma: Zelda Wii will fulfill what TP could not

c0rd: I... don't disagree. If nothing else, other games (especially those by Fumito Ueda) have shown that games can have involving storylines and strong characters without bloated scripts. Indeed, I would not oppose a story with a kind of dynamic, character-driven narrative - much like the new Prince of Persia. I imagine Link as a lone traveler, associating only with a few characters, fighting a personal fight - that is, something like a mix of MM and the original Zelda, but with a more focused main plot and more accessible, dynamic character interactions. The games have already experimented with this idea for a while now - it's just a matter of taking it all the way, cutting the fat while they're at it.

Oh, and did you play FSA?

noname: Good point, I pondered that as well. However I think Aonuma meant merely that he wanted to create a living, believable world that the player could delve into and explore. In his mind the joy that is "Zelda" comes primarily from the experience of playing the games. That is fun. In other words, I agree in principle, but I also think that what makes a Mario game "fun" is not necessarily the same thing that makes a Zelda game "fun".

GTA called it want's it's gimmick back.

Then again GTA does sell well... but since when does the original dude with a sword need to start monkeying around?

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Yeah I loved TP so much but I think a more immersive world is exactly what the series needs, Sidequests will also give you something to do while you are stuck at some point

Not so sure about the central dungeon thing, I didn't love it but didn't hate it either.

The concept of a central dungeon doesn't really bother me.  But I don't really like the ones in PH and ST.  If there was more combat and less sneaking around behind the phantom's backs, I think I would have liked it.

I been waiting too much for a new Zelda tittle on the Wii. So i really hope they do something outstanding!

They HAVE TO!!

Yeah, I was going to bring up Shadow of the Colossus. After playing that game, it really made me think about what Zelda could be like...

I never tried FSA. I nearly forgot about it. I guess I was turned off by the GBA thing (I didn't have my own), not to mention I barely heard anything about it.

Oh, that's a shame. FSA is essentially a level-based action game following the Zelda template. Not exactly what I would look for in Zelda Wii, but you called for a more combat-oriented, arcade-like Zelda title, and well, this is it. Also, as the spiritual precursor to NSMBWii, it can be enjoyed fully as either a single player or multi player game (no GBA needed for the single player).

A truly excellent, old-school game. Really, if you have some spare cash I recommend it, assuming the you aren't bothered by the linear design.

That statement really gives you an idea of how amazing Nintendo games are if Twilight Princess "couldn't fulfill" their expectations quality wise, which is one of the best games this gen.

That is very true. Just look at NSMBWii. Now in the latest Iwata Asks for discussing NSMBWii, he said they want to continue making 2D Mario even if te three devlopers (Miyamoto and some other two dudes*) get old.

* I don't know their names, only the famous Miyamoto so now from i call the m dudes of all time!!:p

As a PS3 owner but big fan of the Zelda series, I HATED the direction they took with Windwaker. The gameplay was fairly refreshing, but I could just not get past the visuals. I honestly felt that viewtiful joe on GC did a better job in that side. I would have preferred if they even kept the visuals similar to Majora's Mask. That being said, Twilight Princess restored my faith in the series, as I think a cell shade, super distorted type look belongs more on the DS than on the Wii, although I am aware that if the gameplay is super solid, I would still "borrow" my friend's Wii again lol.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.
