That is very true. Just look at NSMBWii. Now in the latest Iwata Asks for discussing NSMBWii, he said they want to continue making 2D Mario even if te three devlopers (Miyamoto and some other two dudes*) get old.
* I don't know their names, only the famous Miyamoto so now from i call the m dudes of all time!!:p
